You would have had more connection with the Bessoir era alumni that is for sure. Very little engagement between Bess's players and this Coach and more recent alumni.

Why did he retire weeks before the season?
A school without football is in danger of deteriorating into a medieval study hall.

At a minimum, the program would have done without the significant contributions of Ross, Ethan, and Jackson Danzig.

Not to minimize their contributions, but how deep was their run with any of them?
All I remember is one Elite 8 and that's about it except for the typical one & done whenever, on the rare occasion, they did make the dance.

The year after the Elite 8 run they added Brenden Boken & got upset by Juniata at home in a first round Landmark game so ongoing development & consistency never became a thing for the Royals under this current coach.

Fast forward 14 years from the E-8 run and the same issues persist.

It's time for the golden watch.

Let the record show that nearly half(5 of 11) of his NCAA tournaments were not 1 and done.

Nearly half of his trips were not 1 & done but...more than half were.

Additionally...Ben may already have more NCAA tournament wins in 3 years (7) than men's basketball has put together in his entire 21 year tenure.

And not hosting an NCAA game since 2003, and that was only because of a filing error

Exactly.
And, unless there is a miracle on the Hill...we won't be seeing another one under him for another 22 years.
It's time.
