Quote from: Hotskull on October 10, 2025, 08:52:57 AMMASSIVE Nescac weekend ahead of us. My predictions:

Bowdoin 2-1 Trinity
Wesleyan 0-0 Williams
Tufts 3-1 Bates
Amherst 4-0 Penn State Harrisburg (really Amherst? is that what your scheduling has come to??)
Conn College 2-2 Hamilton
Middlebury 2-1 Colby (Midd doesn't have a choice but to win here)

As we move through October, the main questions left to be unanswered:

- Are Middlebury washed?
- Can Wesleyan hold on to this form?
- Are Williams now a NESCAC powerhouse after a few years of growing success?
- Is Tyler "Huck Tua" the best player in the league?
- Who has the best defense in the league?
- Is this the most open the league has been in recent years?

The Amherst vs PSU-Harrisburg game was cancelled

Big win for Conn against RIC last weekend. I thought this game could've gotten a bit dicey for them, given their recent form, but I was glad to see them pull it together in the 2nd half. It's going to be a difficult trip for the Camels out to Clinton. However, I think/hope that if they can put all the pieces together, they will be able to walk away with a precious point. This is a big match-up for both these teams to see if either squad can gather some momentum to hopefully snatch a 7/8 seed spot in the NESCAC tournament. Will have my eyes on this one for sure.

Wesleyan Whales leverage only two shots on frame to earn another "fluke"! ;)

Middlebury with a solid 4-0 win over Colby today, and it could have been much more.  Big game next week against Tufts.

Hartford 1 - Trinity CT 0

Trinity loses to its cross-town rival on a PK in the 68th minute, despite out-shooting Hartford 14-5.

Hartford was ranked #268 in the NPI from 10/5.  Trinity, however, was ranked #62 under the latest NPI.  So, this will be a bad loss for Trinity and they will drop in the rankings.  It could also hurt Trinity's NESCAC opponents that have tied (counted as half-losses) Trinity if Trinity slides further.

WC hits the inside of the post with 10 seconds left but the ball stays out.  Game ends 3-3.  Nickolas Santana from WC scores 2 goals to give him 15 on the year. He caused fits for the Williams defenders, running at and beating them with ease. Very enjoyable player to watch.

Quote from: flyingdutchman on October 08, 2025, 03:10:29 PMWesleyan's recent results have been impressive, don't get me wrong; however, watching them play, I don't understand how they are getting the results they are. Talking about Wesleyan as a potential league winner seems absurd to me. They are proving they are hard to beat, but I don't think anyone in their offense is particularly threatening. I don't see them advancing past the first round of the NESCAC tournament, unless it's a 0-0 tie and they win it in penalties. Maybe they will continue to prove me wrong, but these results have to be a fluke

So ... four "flukes"?

Wesleyan got another impressive result this weekend. Yet, I'm still not convinced by them and will stand by my prediction that they don't make it past the quarter finals of the NESCAC tournament. If they win the NESCAC regular season, I truly believe it is the WORST team to win the regular season in the last 10 years. Results are results and you can argue it doesn't matter how the game is played if you win, but if you actually watch this Wesleyan team, they aren't very good. In my opinion, past teams that won the NESCAC just way looked more convincing and dominant. Who knows, maybe they will continue to prove me wrong but I'm convinced this run ends soon.

In the latest NPI rankings, Trinity CT dropped from #62 to #121.  That wasn't entirely because of the Hartford loss since it also lost to Wesleyan and Bowdoin after the 10/5 rankings, but a bad loss really hurts.
