FINAL: York 2-1 Misericordia

York moves to 4-1-3 on the season while Misericordia slumps to 2-2-3.

MU snagged a PK with 16 seconds remaining in the second half after conceding two goals in the first half. MU dictated play for large swaths of the second half, mostly through set pieces and getting balls into the box, but York's defense remained resolute.

Nate Gibboney is doing a fantastic job at York, having lost 16 seniors/fifth years after the 2024 season and working to put together a worthy squad albeit dealing with a young core of players. York started 4 freshman against F&M last week.

Please also note that York's Goalkeeper coach, Drew Jarvie, is a Misericordia graduate and former Salisbury GA, where he helped recruit a large core of the players they have now. Gibboney also brought on former ODU & GWU standout, Matt Brummet, as an assistant for the 2025 campaign. Brummet, who plays his trade with professional indoor team Harrisburg Heat, is certainly contributing toward Gibboney's re-build at York.

88th minute: LVC 2-2 Rutgers-Camden!

Nathan Prex & Ben Kolarek on target for LVC - decisive impact. Prex now on 5 goals + 4 assists, continuing unbelievable form. After First Team All Region in 2024, he's pushing strongly for All-American this year.

Joseph Lodise strikes again for Rutgers-Camden, bringing his tally to 3 goals for this season. Also a goal from Nik Grello to tie the game at 2-2 late on, which brings his season to 2 goals + 2 assists.

Game wide open. 2 minutes remaining...

And he played hurt in 2024 after being an All-American in 2023.  Kid is legit.

Quote from: Hopkins92 on September 19, 2025, 09:50:31 AMBack in my day, it was always Hop, Fords and Swat battling it out for the conference title. Slightly different mix of teams (F&M not in the conf at that time, for example) but it just seems like they have the resources and history to be competitive in a sport like soccer.

F&M was in the Middle Atlantic Conference through 1992/93 when the school, and Hopkins too, left to form the Centennial Conference for all sports (Centennial was just for football previously).

Yeah, I'm not sure why I had that brain burp. I don't remember playing them at home, just at their field. It was memorable because they had good hecklers. I guess that might bug some goalies, but I always loved that. Good natured and quite funny.

But, yeah, looking at the record book, played them all 4 years. (Obviously)

Muhlenberg quietly humming along at 4-0-3 (undefeated) and with wins over LVC, F&M, DeSales, & Moravian. Will be interesting to see how they fare through the rest of conference play with Swarthmore & Gettysburg looming in the near future.

Their points leader is Freshman Daniel Ariza, who has accumulated 4 goals + 2 assists.

Yeah, been getting results against not very good competition. Beat F&M on a 2nd half pk which was its only shot that half. A win, but was not impressive. Ties against Alvernia, Neumann and Misericordia. Obviously we will see.

Thank you for this insight. I haven't caught any home games for the Muhles. Who do you slate to finish on top of the pack in the Centennial?

I'll go with Dickinson this year, with Hopkins following- slow start for them but I think they'll get it together.

SierraFD3soccer

Definitely see the Muhls in the mix which they have been in past years. It may be its break out year, but, based on the F&M, they have a lot of work. But for a brain freeze, it could have been a tie or F&M win since they had better opportunities in the second half.

IMO Dickinson with ties to Vir Wesleyan and Chris Newport then 6 straight wins over medium teams (5-1 win over Alvernia which tied the Muhls 0-0) has the talent and now momentum to be really good in the Cent. Conf. and maybe beyond. People may forget that they made to the final 8 and have pretty much the same team this year (2-3 v. W&L). What they do not lack is players who can finish.

Hop will always be competitive, and, assuming that it can eliminate its stupid mistakes, will be there.

Hopkins92

Hop is VERY young, which is likely contributing to the number of goals they are giving up and the manner in which they are conceded.

Interesting box score in South Jersey tonight as Stockton tops WC  2-1.  Interesting not for the result but for the Shorepeople starting lineup which apparently did not include its regular starters.  Oh to be a fly on the wall in Coach Dunshee's office.

In other news the D3 board jinx is seemingly on.  Muhlenberg earns a PK to tie FDU Florham 1-1 at home in Allentown.

Mr_November

Nathan Prex with a perfect hat trick in a 3-1 LVC win over Penn State Harrisburg. His brilliance continues.

SierraFD3soccer

Hop on a really, really, really bad field, comes up with the tie late in the second half.  Almost a different game at Haverford with this grass.

F&M gets a very nice goal in the first half and several chances against Swat.  Swat dominated the 2nd half and the third string keeper came up with 7 saves. Really grinded it out. Still haven't scored more than a goal in a game this year. 1st string keeper got a red card right at the end of the 1st half against Lynchburg. Second string got hurt against Swat in the first 25 min. Having a deep keeper bench can pay off.
