Quote from: SierraFD3soccer on October 08, 2025, 07:11:51 PMWatching the Yankees and F&M on two different screens, pretty good night (so far).

F&M scored a goal against Albright in the first 2 min. Now only have 88 minutes to score a 2nd. It could be the first time in 12 games F&M scores more than 1 in a game.

F&M breaks reg season record, up 4-0 with some very nice team goals which imo are the best.

Battle of Balt/Beach - 1-1 Hop keeper really wants that back. Tough goal. Still 8+ left.

F&M had scored 9 goals till tonight and win 5-0 so now averg slightly over 1 goal per game.

Hop had a really rough night falling late to the Sea Gulls (maybe not schedule so many sea birds next year - tied the Seahawks 3-3 earlier)

The Wash College v. Hop and F&M v. Gettysburg games this weekend are huge for all four as to the Cent. Conf. Though WC are called the Watermen, could the WC symbol of a goose play a factor or the fact that this is another team tied to water?? I let the experts decide - SimpleCoach??? Hmmmmmmm.

I mean with a Nor'easter forecasted to hit this weekend there could be a deluge in the Mid Atlantic.  Saw the news from Kentucky the other day.  Hope everyone is prepared and safe.

How did we not discuss this yet.  On Tuesday, the Wilkes GK scored with 4 seconds remaining to draw with Susquehanna. Oh, I know why, the game was only available with a Flo subscription.

Not sure if anyone saw this, but EMU (Eastern Mennonite University- Harrisonburg, VA) made ESPN's Sportscenter Top 10 the other day. Scored with no time remaining on the clock to tie.

Two crazy games in the Cent. Conf., Dickinson at home ties the Fords. Fords got a goal in the first half off a corner. Last third of the game Dickinson got one off a corner as well. Looked like Dickinson got the winner, but a foul on the keeper. So 1-1.

Muhls v. McDaniel 0-0 nothing to exciting.

Top three teams remain undefeated. Muhls and Dickerson both 3-0-2 and the Fords 1-0-4. Definitely flatten outs the conference and makes it. Half way through the conf. So if Hop, F&M or Gettysburg get a win, it'll be pretty tight at the top.

Centennial Conference is such a fascinating, tight conference. Not much that separates the top from the bottom.

WAC lost to York out-of-conference last week, and then turned around and beat Hopkins. Fords continue to remain near-impossible to beat under HC Kevin Brenner.

LVC with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Del Val on Saturday. Nathan Prex with 2 goals - one was a free kick and one was a pen.

With Stevens struggling this year (as compared to their usual standard) at 3-2-5, could this be the year LVC snag an AQ as conference winners?

Shocking result in Lancaster yesterday. Anyone on site to tell the tale?

4-0 to Hopkins, in case folks hadn't seen the scoreboard.

MAC COMMONWEALTH UPDATE

- 3 games into conference play and Hood sit atop the MAC Commonwealth.
- Eastern shocks York 1-0 courtesy of a stunning last gasp PK save by SR GK, Ty Bleiler.
- Messiah squeak a 1-0 win away at Albright thanks to a game winner with less than 5 mins remaining.
- Alvernia's struggles continue with a 1-0 loss to Hood. Just 2 wins for the Golden Wolves this season.
- Widener's woes continue with another loss to an impressive Stevenson side who are flourishing under HC Charlie Johnson

Didn't see the match, but impressive to see in the match recap that FR defender Thomas Bean scored his first two collegiate goals - and what a time to do it! Bean played at highly touted MD Private school St. Albans. His bio notes that he was First Team All-DC and Conference Co-Player of the Year.

One to watch for the future for the Bluejays?

Watched it. F&M just can't score. Were down 2-0 at half and that was pretty much it. Hopkins played well.

Very tough year. Worst season for Wagner in over 20+ years. Only three more games left. Playing two not great teams, Ursinus and McDaniel, and one decent, Haverford. If it could score a bit, maybe eek into the Cent. Conf. playoffs.

Stevenson has definitely had a very good season and it tied for first place with Hood and Messiah. Like Hood, they have a shot at making the playoffs. They still have to play Hood, York and Messiah, but definitely better than many other seasons. Stevenson had 2 decent seasons in 2018-19, but not great in any others.

So, it's been a busy/weird fall and the fact that Hopkins has been pretty up-and-down has led to me only really catching a few snippets of their early OH trip.

Watching the Dickinson game pretty closely and:

* - They are now back to playing their iconic (meh) two defensive backs working the ball up methodically when in possession. It's pretty effective, but...

* - What makes that system work is feeding the results of breaking the press to a midfield that can "deal." There is something lacking in the midfield at this point.

* - Shocked that this team put 4 goals in against anyone. I'm a homer. I'm not trying to be rude. The lack of connection with the top 6 offensive guys is just not there. So many mid-range ball sent into the 18/goalie is VERY frustrating. I'd rather they revert to Hops norm of over-possessing. They are just giving the ball away constantly. And not ... "oh, let's launch a cross with a guy in the area." It's a lot of passes that are vertical and with no Hop player within 20 yards.

Weird.

SierraFD3soccer

Yeah, can definitely agree as to Hop. Dickinson just couldn't get the 2nd goal. Hop only scored bc of a penalty.

HUGE game on Saturday on against Muhls at Hop. Almost a must win to make it to the playoffs. They are in 6th (has the tiebreaker against McDaniel). Muhls are 8-0-8 and playing sometimes well with struggles to score goals at times. Muhl's last 4 games, three were 0-0 which is pretty nuts. Hard for a team to continue that streak. Also to get to .500, Hop needs to win the next 2. Rough year.
