We will find out in time!  The Dragons played Springfield with Boyes at a fraction of his normal self. Defensively, that game was a coaching enigma! Not sure what the staff was thinking with the fronts and shades they ran v that offense. Almost unorthodox, coming from an alumni base where 90% of your players are coaching at the HS level. But...SC played NC tougher then anyone else down the stretch, so it's safe to say SC was the real deal last year!

Anyway, the kid that we thought that was gonna jump into the QB role last year v Springfield is a horse. Should be good, but has huge shoes to fill. I believe Joe Iadevio is back after missing last year. He was a stud receiver from the Stag Bowl run. The last 4 years were an amazing run. As much as I'd love to see the momentum remain, it's only natural to see a hiccup at some point. Fingers crossed!

Preseason #10 for the Red Dragons. I was actually surprised with that spot. Lots of questions need to be answered heading into the season. New HC and staff(Coach B has a very strong resume). Key positions being reloaded! Should be interesting!

And the Dragons have a new Head Coach! We went with an IC alumni! Looks like a solid guy that's been pretty successful! Love that he was a wrestler in his HS days! Hope Coach Blu can keep the Dragons rolling!

I posted the rumor earlier, but  then quickly deleted as I didn't see anything in print. Words out...We had a great run. Fitz and the Dragons had 2x 10-0 regular seasons and 2x 9-1 regular seasons. Post season record was 7-3 with the Stag Bowl win!

Hope we can find another gem!

Kid we have moving up the ranks was a stud in HS. Still have 2 more years of Gallo in the backfield!  Im sure they will pull some recruits and transfers, but only time will tell! I'd love to see the Dragons maintain some level of dominance, but we could also see Cortland fall back to where they were. 8-2 or 7-3 type teams! Most would say that's not awful, but these last 4 seasons have spoiled us alums! I think Coach Fitz has done a great job and will gear the schemes to the personnel he has. I hope he sticks around and doesn't look for bigger things!

Was more than an early hit! Word was it carried over from last week. But either way, SC was the better team today!

A team of that caliber shouldn't be giving up KO's for a TD and then coughing up the ensuing KOR! Special teams was no friend of the Dragons today.

Not sure if SC will stop the NC offensive machine, but I'm sure interested in seeing if they can keep that option attack on schedule! They managed the game great today!

Sussy with the last second FG to win.

Better team won today. Cortland just didn't have it in them.

Special teams disaster so far. Give up a long KO after a quick score . Fumble the ensuing KOR. Looks like they gave up. Imploding!

Fran...Any game notes yet? Love reading them each week! Not sure if I missed them or not, but have any names been released for the Gagliardi Trophy yet?

I don't know all that much about Hobart from this season outside of the scrimmage report, IC game, and Playoff game. But...

Based on what I've heard and saw, I don't know how much more a team could realistically progress in one season! Cortland scored at will in the August scrimmage. R-M was  played to the wire at a time when Bart was still a LL underdog. They beat a good Ithaca team who played a tough schedule, and then went toe to toe with a team that had offensive weapons oozing all over the field!

Hobart advanced through a steep learning curve and succeeded. Personally, I believe the optics of a weaker Liberty League were rooted in a dark horse taking the reins. Swap UofR's record with Unions, and the appearance may change a bit. The final result in playoff performance was probably the same, but it came from somewhere unexpected this year.

Not to be condescending, but it's not always a great thing to score at will! Back in like 2015, Cortland was able to score at will but defensively wasn't more than a consistent speed bump. Different scenario but there are some parallels.

Obviously you take your points when you can, but when dictating the tempo is feasible, do so! I'd say those scores were opportunistic.

Hobart has played solid D all year, but when struggling to get stops like Saturday, a long drive gives the stop troops time to recharge. It can also throw the offense out of their rhythm. Was a good year for you guys.

I hope they can beat Springfield! SC seemed vulnerable defensively today against a similar offensive scheme that doesn't have nearly the players. If these guys can put it together, 40 points shouldn't be difficult.

The Cortland D played very well against an offense that has been consistently consistent....and frankly, the Cortland D won the day today. Next week is a totally different beast. I think we have the beef, athletes, and know how to shut the option down.

I won't comment on NC unless we get that far!

42-35 sussy! Hobart playing gritty!
