Cortland isn't the team they were during the last 4 campaigns. They look more along the lines of the 8-2 type teams from before the Fitz era.
Union looked much like Cortland last week. Did enough to make you think "What if" when you eliminate the turn overs. Cortland caught some breaks today.

Just an assumption...most likely due to being an RPO based offense. Run reads and keys were not there. Hence the disproportionate run/pass ratio! Could be totally wrong, but when you run an option offense, you take what's given on the fly! I'm not talking about triple option...

There were rumors that Rescigno was gonna start the Springfield playoff game last year...but Boyes was cleared. Prior to that, the only guy getting game reps was not Mike R. And he was a senior. Head scratcher.. Again...just hearsay!

Cortland took a dump today on their field. Was hard to watch! They have weapons at the skill positions. Iadevio back at receiver, 2 other solid returners in Zeva and Cotton. Their best receiver performance was from a D1aa transfer! So 4 solid receiver threats! Gallo was not a factor and that's with 3 returning linemen! 6 picks and 1 fumble... while looking to tie the game too!

For as bad as it was, they had a shot to tie it but didn't. Went on a 4th down late in the game deep in their own territory and didn't convert. GCC tacked on the last score for the cherry on top! Oh well... hopefully next week sees some improvement.

Grove City returned 8 starters on D. Cortland returned 3 olinemen, Gallo at rb, 3 solid receivers and a transfer from Stony Brook at receiver. GCC controlled the line of scrimmage and everything inside the box. 5 picks and a fumble at the 10 going in were brutal. 2 turnovers lead to 14 immediate points!

Next week will be huge for both Union and Cortland. Cortland rebounding from a bad loss and Union resetting after a tough outing to a seriously good opponent! Union holding the Sus offense to a respectable score makes me nervous as a Red Dragon fan!

Any word on how that scrimmage went? Anyone appear to have an upper hand?

Cortland scrimmage anyone this week? Any word out of camp?

That article is totally fake!

Rescigno....he was the Section 1 offensive player of the year from Arlington HS back in 2023. He's a NYS kid, as most are at Cortland.  Kid has some size and skills with a football IQ to back it up.

We will find out in time!  The Dragons played Springfield with Boyes at a fraction of his normal self. Defensively, that game was a coaching enigma! Not sure what the staff was thinking with the fronts and shades they ran v that offense. Almost unorthodox, coming from an alumni base where 90% of your players are coaching at the HS level. But...SC played NC tougher then anyone else down the stretch, so it's safe to say SC was the real deal last year!

Anyway, the kid that we thought that was gonna jump into the QB role last year v Springfield is a horse. Should be good, but has huge shoes to fill. I believe Joe Iadevio is back after missing last year. He was a stud receiver from the Stag Bowl run. The last 4 years were an amazing run. As much as I'd love to see the momentum remain, it's only natural to see a hiccup at some point. Fingers crossed!

Preseason #10 for the Red Dragons. I was actually surprised with that spot. Lots of questions need to be answered heading into the season. New HC and staff(Coach B has a very strong resume). Key positions being reloaded! Should be interesting!

And the Dragons have a new Head Coach! We went with an IC alumni! Looks like a solid guy that's been pretty successful! Love that he was a wrestler in his HS days! Hope Coach Blu can keep the Dragons rolling!

I posted the rumor earlier, but  then quickly deleted as I didn't see anything in print. Words out...We had a great run. Fitz and the Dragons had 2x 10-0 regular seasons and 2x 9-1 regular seasons. Post season record was 7-3 with the Stag Bowl win!

Hope we can find another gem!

Kid we have moving up the ranks was a stud in HS. Still have 2 more years of Gallo in the backfield!  Im sure they will pull some recruits and transfers, but only time will tell! I'd love to see the Dragons maintain some level of dominance, but we could also see Cortland fall back to where they were. 8-2 or 7-3 type teams! Most would say that's not awful, but these last 4 seasons have spoiled us alums! I think Coach Fitz has done a great job and will gear the schemes to the personnel he has. I hope he sticks around and doesn't look for bigger things!

Was more than an early hit! Word was it carried over from last week. But either way, SC was the better team today!

A team of that caliber shouldn't be giving up KO's for a TD and then coughing up the ensuing KOR! Special teams was no friend of the Dragons today.

Not sure if SC will stop the NC offensive machine, but I'm sure interested in seeing if they can keep that option attack on schedule! They managed the game great today!
