Quote from: Ron Boerger on May 05, 2026, 11:11:00 AMNo doubt.  Trinity has definitely struggled the back half of the season and I haven't been following closely enough to understand why.

Pitch control.  The ball was always in the dirt.

Ball in the dirt is where you want it... if you have good catchers. Plus errors, and lack of situational hitting, not a good combination for success.

All teams have down years, but for Trinity to not be in the top 25 is pretty shocking.

They will reload, Coach Fregosi is one of the best recruiters in baseball.

Gives the coaching staff more time for recruiting.  ;D

The lights are going out on Trinity's season. Now Coach Fregosi (recruiting coach) faces some heavy lifting this summer...but he's delivered before, so there's reason for optimism.

@Ralph Turner. I agree, it's just not right. The baseball Gods can not be happy with this.

Regardless I was shocked to see that Trinity was the number one seed in the SAA playoffs.

Looking at the NPI ratings if they don't go deep in the SAA playoffs they will miss the regionals for the first time in 10+ years.

@Ron Boerger etal. I have been following Trinity for 12 years and have never seen them out of the top 20 until this year. All teams have ups and downs, but I sure they will reload next year. They have a great program and coaches. They do have a strong schedule there is always the conference tournament, so you never know.

I have just kept "one eye" on D3 baseball since my son's graduation, but I think this is the first time that I can remember not seeing Trinity in the top 25 over the past 15 years. I do like that Trinity is "back" in the the SAA, which is a former subset of the SCC, and will get to play a wider group of teams.

Is Trinity in the West or South team now?

Asking for a friend....

Logically a West team, by conference a South. I'm so confused.  :o

I have been away from D3 baseball for awhile and just saw that Trinity took 3 of 4 from UWW as I got to my computer today... Emotionally positive, but early season so it may not mean much, however it will help both teams if they don't win their conferences. There is a reason the top teams from the East roll into San Antonio for their first games. Good for visitors and good for TU. I caught a few innings of the webcast from TU. Pretty impressive. Nice job to for the webcast crew and video.

I see that TU updated their field. When are they going to get a proper broadcast booth?

Congrats to both teams on a great series.

Believe it or not Trinity went to their first CWS 10 years ago and over the past 10 years they have won it once and this will be the 4th time during the past 10 years. Baseball is indeed a strange game.

Ralph: Your #2494 was more accurate than #2496. TU had to come from behind and won game one 5-4. McMurry is a very competitive team. The thing Trinity has going for them is that they have played a lot of close 1 run games and when you do that you develop a lot of confidence when you get to the supers and CWS as most of those games are had fought and close.

It is sadly an end of an era for the BS Panthers. They are going to be sorely missed in the upper echelons of D3 baseball and best wishes to the players and their families, you will be missed.

For what it is worth the WSP 2014 team was one of the most physically impressive DIII baseball teams I have ever seen. Wisconsin teams are always D3 powerhouse teams and well represented. Baseball playoffs can be cruel. as most of us who have followed the sport know.

I think it is down, SCAC is weak and is the first time I can remember that Trinity has not been ranked in top 25 as well as only TLU in regional rankings.
As we all know it is about getting hot around the playoffs so rankings don't mean anything once regionals start.
Good luck to the SCIAC teams in their conference tournament.

Trinity drops out of the top 25 for the first time that I can remember in the past 10 years.

Ron, etal:
This is interesting and may be OK for Trinity and SWern, but what happens to all of the other SCAC schools? Do they join up with the ASC or ?
This will be a big blow from a competitive point of view for TLU and Centenary.

Travel to SW and Trinity may not be an burden on the SAA schools for 1x per year, but for Trinity and SWrn they will have to travel to the SAA schools at least 3-4 times per year. All of those trips will be at least 10 hour bus rides each way  unless sports financing has changed they will not be flying the baseball team.

Overall it should be positive for competition for Trinity and SWern and likely more interesting for the student-athletes and if BSC stays solvent (and even if not) the conference championship will be much more difficult, which will be a positive thing.

Will the conference championship move back to Memphis or ?

The lack of picking depth finally caught up with Trinity, but you have to give them a lot of credit to get this far in the playoff's and even making it to the CWS as there are a lot of teams that would have liked to make it this far.
Really a credit to the scrappy nature of the team and the coaching staff.
I will be rooting for LaGrange to move on, but winning two will be a challenge for them tomorrow.

I think Trinity and UT Dallas messed up and thought it was a football playoff and sent the wrong teams....
