Would not be a bit suprised to see the puppies try to become dogs.  They are working at it ... have a long way to go but am rooting for them.

Turf delivered?  When do they put it down?  Projected completion date?

I am dying to see it.

Wish google maps was real time  ;)
Why should you go for it on 4th down?

The last super highly touted freshman QB at Wooster was the next John Elway according to Mike Schmitz.  The new kid is from Florida...could we be seeing the next Timothy Richard Tebow charging down that hill this fall?   :)

You know coach all too well.

The latest from the Wabash website says the workers are going to finish the drainage portion of the construction this weekend.  They are spreading the gravel base right now.  They will start putting down the turf on Monday.  Projected completion date is August 9.  There are a few new pictures of the construction posted today.
Repulse them, repulse them!  Make them relinquish the ellipsoid!

Don't know if anyone has posted this yet, but I was driving through Wooster yesterday and looked down at the Papp, only to see mounds of dirt, cranes and lots of iron blocking my view. Visiting teams and newcomers will have a pleasant suprise this fall and hopefully the construction will stay on track for the 2012 season. New turf and and the new Scot Center will be a nice recruiting tool here in the next few years.

On another note:

Steve Custenborder has turned in his football uniform and cleats and transfered to The Ohio State University to finish his education. Bad news for the Scots with Degrand and Cust now gone.

I think that the Scots' incoming quarterback is Jarid Heffers, who played for Riverview HS (in Riverview, Florida), on a weak 5A team (6A is the largest).  Recalling that Riverview has a huge, kilt-wearing marching band, the choice of Wooster made sense ... until I realized that I was thinking of nearby Sarasota Riverview, while this young man played for the "other Riverview"

I hate to hear that Steve Custenborder has transferred out of Wooster.  I had him in class during his sophomore year, and he seemed quite happy here then.

The Scot Center construction is a massive mess right now, and I don't think that there will be a hill (aside from the very steep one coming from the parking lot) for the Scots to run down this fall.  Based on the way things look now, I'm not even sure how they'll get from the locker room to the field.  With a scheduled completion date of January 2012, there might be less mess next fall, if the exterior work is largely complete.  While the Scot Center will benefit the whole campus community, the indoor track teams will likely be happiest of all, as their practices are currently held at WHS from 10 p.m. to midnight, after the track there closes to the public each evening.

Wow, Jarid Heffers is a stud! Great get for the Scots. Plus, he is already use to  running for his life and having his WR drop his passes. JK about that, but his team was pretty terrible!

There's a difference in chucking blindly down the field when you're under pressure and the game's pretty much decided and relying on reads/timing to build a lead, etc. I know you already think I'm combative Short, but there's nothing on that highlight film that suggests to me that Wabash fans should be anything but ecstatic if Heffers is lining up under center for the scots next year; I see a qb who can move a little (there's no way he's a 4.6 guy...) and who can hit a rollout crossing route. His arm is average, he's short, and he threw for all of 500 yards as a senior. If that's the quarterback of the future for Wooster, count me as thrilled.

I just thought that you may know a little bit more about you than I, if that makes any sense.   ;)

Although I'd love to see TJ Adkinson flashing down the field and catching balls this year for Wooster.....I'd much rather see him calling the signals than the the freshman Heffers. Hopefully Woo will have 5 or 6 QBS in camp to have a good ole fashioned competition and 1 man will stand out....whoever that may be.  ???

For those of you who don't know, TJ  has been the backup behind Holter/ Parker the past 2 years and understands the offense. He is a very athletic kid with speed that could be used at other spots on the field because he is such a gifted athlete. I would say on the ground he is a faster player than Holter, now he just needs to get the reps and work on his timing with the receivers. I see a lot of screens and dink n dunks this year to Flagg, Smith and McIntyre. They will have the athletes to score, just need to be able to get the ball to them.

Not sure who the QB will be for Wooster but the rest on the Offensive skill will be very talented!

While there are certainly questions about Wooster's offense (the aforementioned trio fo Flagg, McIntyre, and Smith scored a total of six TDs last season...not exactly earth shattering stuff there), the Scot defense is just as big a question. In Wooster's five losses last year, the Scots gave up 39.6 points per game.  In Wooster's five wins, that number drops to 11.4 points per game.  Wooster is going to have to figure out how to slow down the better offenses on their schedule.

The preseason coaches poll will be released in one week...do the fans care to cast their own ballots here in the forum?  I'm working on my preseason picks now...
