the 2005 Mount championship team made NCAA history as the first team to have a 3,000 yard passer (Jorris - 3736), two 1,000 yard rushers (Kmic - 1219, ARob - 1046) and two 1,000 yard receivers (Garcon - 1196, Casto - 1223). With the explosive and well-balanced offense shown so far by the Raiders, is there a chance that they could repeat this feat, but add a third 1,000 yard receiver?

A deep playoff run is obviously needed to accumulate such gaudy stats, so lets assume a Stagg Bowl appearance.

3,000 yards = 200/gm.  That should be pretty easy for Maloney.  I'd guess Mount has had a 3000 yard passer every year since the Piloto/Seaman years

1000 yards =  67/gm.  Williams is currently averaging 99 and Thomas is 64.  With the "lighter" portion of the OAC schedule coming up, I think that we'll see an even more evenly split number of carries for the two backs.

WR- Turner - 98/gm Cockrell - 65/gm Grant - 67/gm

Turner seems to be Maloney's favorite target this season and should coast to 1000 yards.  Cockrell has hit on numerous explosive receptions this season.  Without a couple of dropped balls on Saturday, he'd also be up over 300 yards so far.  I'd feel better about Grant if he hadn't missed the Ott game.  Hopefully he was out just due to being cautious.  After seeing him last year at Muskie, I think we'll get a couple of monster games out of him by season's end.

none of this means a whole lot without a ring at the end of the year, but this offense is one of the most balanced that we have seen in quite a while.

Yet still managed to lose to ONU at home!

Kmic wasn't a thing yet and Pierre was out with the broken hand.  That and the cold, rain, windy day set up a perfect storm for the greatest day in ONU football history.  I think the game was up on YouTube at one point.  Just a rotten day overall in Alliance

the exciting part of some of these Mount games vs the bottom of the conference is seeing which young players the coaching staff is high on.  Some that stood out vs Ott:

#64 Grayson Lehman (G) - played a bunch of snaps at LG in place of Rockwell, who is replacing an injured Fortner.  Played with a definite nasty streak and has great size for the interior (6-4 285ish).  I wonder what the interior of the OL looks like with Fortner's possible return (played C for 4 years prior to '25) and the injury to Levelle (C).  Frosh Parker Jenks has played outstanding at C and looks like a future AA-type, but does Dartt look to get a little more experience on the inside? Depth is never a bad thing

#22 Jaeson Anderson (CB) - had the big INT return for TD, but he played a bunch in the 2nd half and looked pretty good.

#8 Lucas Weaver (RB) - was returning kicks and the third RB in the game.  Showed some exciting burst.

#23 Gavin Erhardt (LB) - the D1 baseball player took over for Rinard at LB for most of the game.  Was the leading tackler and showed great athleticism and a little more stoutness.  LB has been one of my biggest concerns on this Raiders defense, we'll see how the position evolves over the next few weeks.

Mount game notes up for Wilma.

I'd love to see the Mount defense step up and shut down an inferior opponent, but this looks like a game where the offense scores every 2-4 minutes and Mount loses the TOP battle 2:1. Gotta think that Cockrell goes off a little after a couple of big drops, Williams is a home run hitter and likely has a long run or two

If you're like me, and the lack of size at LB for Mount keeps you up at night....at least they tower over Wilma's 5-5 175 OLB....right?

Erhardt at 220 lbs looked good out there against Ott subbing in for Rinard.  Cruz is listed at 5'8", 205 and he looks smaller than that watching the games.  He's fast and seems like a sure tackler, but when your MLB is that size and they run the ball you're a long way from hosses like Jason Hall or Tony DeRiggi blasting RB's.  I know the game has changed so maybe there is more value on your LBs being able to defend the pass today so smaller, more athletic LBs are preferred.

Tony DeRiggi was a scary scary man.

watching DeRiggi try to squeeze into a Chapman Hall desk from the middle ages was quite the sight

maybe I'm a glutton for punishment, but I've watched a couple of Wilmington games...

- their announcers are high energy, might not know the rules of college football, but there's energy

- the Quakers don't play a lick of defense, they can not tackle at all

-  its a quick hit offense for WC, the receivers actually seem pretty talented

-  they still run a lot of the shotgun HB pitch that resulted in "Mt Boom"

-  play action will result in a throw over the middle more than half of the time.

- the WC kick return team is less than good

Buckeyes on the TV.
Johns Hopkins on the family computer.
John Carroll on the work laptop.
Life get any better than this?
Yes ... When the Purple Raiders rule the world ... LOL!

D3fanboy

Mount brought their own juice for the usually low-energy Wilmington away game.  the boys in purple are flying around, up 14-0 early.

No Davion Grant for the Raiders, #64 Lehman gets the start at RG and Ehrhardt is back in their starting in place of Rinard at LB

Remind me why I am having to pay for crappy video streaming with marginal commentary and no replay.  It was better when we were watching one camera work with commentary from the home town announcers.  In fact it seems like that is what we are forced to watch (and pay for)--but with the crappier streaming.
Reloading--Again, and again, and again....

Watching the Otterbein game?  Cause I was about to ask that as well, I've never seen it.

that was a new one to me as well.  I'm not sure how a camera angle from behind the play and at the top of the stadium would provide much insight, but what do I know
