wait...the JCU coach brought up "running from competition" in his post game presser in round 2?  lol

I mean, it was in response to a question, so it wasn't completely out of the blue.

There's an obvious joke in there about him saying that line, and then immediately being killed...

But in all honesty, I knew this day was one day gonna come. I am glad it is, but doesn't change the "worry" I've felt every time we've played you all since I first went to JCU 15 years ago.

Can we win Saturday? Sure. Is it going to require out absolute best? Absolutely. All season most everyone, including most of you, have been down on Mount, but last week showed that Mount does when VERY few teams can do.. They do not win the Championship in October. No, they play to get to the playoffs and then turn it on once they begin. Maybe it's because I am not an "insider", but seems to me that they are the team that ALWAYS gets better in the playoffs, even as you all talk about the glory days of LK and act as though the world is ending most every week. Sure, it has not brought you a Stagg Bowl in a number of years, but you all remain one of the top 2 teams in all of D3. That is why since our rise to relevance started 12 years ago, we have played you tough in most every regular season game, with that one magic victory, but once we meet in the playoffs, the game has NEVER been in doubt.

I unfortunately believe we are going to see the same thing this Saturday.

dont you dare slow play us...this is rivalry week!!!!  Despite Mount not marketing a damn thing all week, it should be a big game.  Would not shock me to see JCU bring more than 50% of the crowd

Trust me, I want you to be right; but we've seen this play out before. Look at every playoff match up between the two, and I rest my case.

the ONE saving grace is that this is the first match up of the year.

But in the spirit of rivalry week... I still hate you.. ;) there, that better?

I see that #71, big LT for JCU is not on depth chart. I watched him limp off on the replay of game.  To work all season to get this far and miss it is a horrible shame.  JCU throws a lot of dinks and swing type passes and Mount had better tackle well, as these could be game changers as far as keeping drives alive. JCU LB's and DB's lay the boom when they have the chance, I thought one should have been targeting. Weather looks clear and mid 30's. JCU averages 45 PPG, and Randolph Macon's offense was putrid.  Was it them or the JCU D?  Looking for a big crowd.  I agree with earlier post on attendance at JCU.  No way was their 2k people there. Travel safely Blue Streaks, and hope that both teams bring "A" games for a super game.

Nah it'll be a decent crowd (for the playoffs anyway) last year's round 2 matchup against CMU had about 2500 in attendance, unless weather is truly terrible we should match that number.

I will say, I understand the weather factor but it blows my mind that Mount's playoff attendance is so much worse than regular season considering that they are so much better matchups. I pretty much only come to playoff games!

2500 for Mount-JCU in the playoffs would be highly disappointing/embarrassing.  It should be 2x, maybe almost 3x that.  Maybe the school/athletic office/alumni dept has a plan for Saturday and I just haven't heard anything about it.  It's super sad.  Mount will never have the giant crowds of the public WI schools, but the players deserve more than what there has been in the stands this year.

I'd for one be shocked if Mount didn't have a big showing. I mean, I am not familiar with Mount students as a whole, but I imagine it is a lot of NE Ohio, must of whom have friends and former classmates who go to JCU. Correct me if I am wrong, of course.

But you know we still see you all as Public enemy Number 1; since the BW game became kind of a "lol, losers". Are we still your biggest rivals, in your mind?

40-3-2 is a thing.  Mount's "rival" has gone from UWW, to JCU for a year or two and now it seems like NCC, although Mount needs to win a game for it to be a "rivalry".  The real rivalry is the current Mount Union vs "the standard".
