When I was a kid I saw a black and white movie about a donkey who could kick like 90 yards.

Walt Disney's "GUS" per chance - a 1976, anthropomorphic clone of the classic Francis/Donald O'Conner series from the early 1950s?

Actually, it was indeed a Francis movie that I saw.  Thanks cave2bens, I was going nuts trying to remember the name of that donkey.

Do you think they realize that Kmic will only be a Junior this coming season?

Going to make for a long, cold season perhaps..

Kmic's a senior in 2008.  He played in 11 games as a true freshman (coming on strong in the playoffs), and had a huge soph year.  Last year, with 1700 yards, was his junior season.  That said, it will still be a long and cold season for the boys from FL.

whoops...my fault.  My mistake probably gave some coaches on MUC's schedule a coronary...

Reason for athletic trainers all over the OAC to celebrate. The Akron Beacon-Journal reports today the that Tressel brothers are leading the contributors to replace the "turf" at BW. Looks like we only a one more year of green concrete jokes.

After today, BW will always bring a chuckle (more so than before anyways) in my household.  We just painted our guest bath and the color combo the wife chose is "Sweet Butter" and "Java Delight".  She loves the way the colors compliment each other.  I just see a flaming pile of BW and it's the perfect room for it.

And certainly, the POY in any division from FLA, OH, TX, PA and a few other states has the talent to succeed.  Let's just hope he doesn't fall prey to the mindset I mentioned before, thinking that since he was POY in FLA, that automatically makes him better than most in D3.
Seems to me he will come in with some pretty impressive credentials but I agree with you regarding the high quality of play at the D3 level, especially at the top, catching many recruits off quard.  I remember a story that was told to me by a friend of mine who was a 2 year starter and AA that a highly touted recruit told him the opening day of camp that he would have his job by the 5th game.  The player quit before the last day of camp.   ;D   Many don't have the mental fortitude to hang when they find out that they are not the big star anymore.

That's too funny.

Regarding the Leo Strang era in Massillon .....Leo had a son whom I shared a desk with back in the old "2 to a desk" days of 3rd grade. That poor kid took some abuse that he didnt deserve on account of his fathers position. I felt sorry for him on one hand...then envied him on the other. When the Tigers were on a roll.....there was no abuse.  Leo did indeed move on to Kent State where his mark was made as...of all things.....A HOCKEY COACH!  His portrait still hangs with a plaque commemoriating his hockey teams success. If you ever are on campus stop in at the ICE ARENA and take a look.

Jason Hall will do fine. As long as the replacement Superintendent for the replacement Supintendent isnt a McKinley grad. ;)

I haven't been on the Kent State campus since the Don James era - was there to visit with Donnie and Dennie Fitzgerald, both of whom I knew from their times with the U/M. They were very high on the pro potential of an underclass linebacker. On the visit I watched him participate in a winter, no pads, no football workout. My God - he was downright skinny, painfully so - even by MAC standards. How could he ever play in the NFL? His name was Jack Lambert. Object lesson - wait until you see a prospect play the game before making a definitive judgment.

You just need to glue some of that cheap green indoor/outdoor carpet on the floor and .....

Yeah we are trying to find some of that green porch-type utility carpet for the floor.  I figure we can buy some remnants off one of the raisins (that's what they call the retirees out here in PHX) if they don't sell it in stores any more.  Then to make sure we execute this project perfectly.  I plan to construct some sort of busy thruway with a crosswalk between the bathroom and the laundry room; that way when guests change their clothes, they have to dodge traffic before getting to their destination.

A little bit of Berea smack in the middle of Arizona.

Too bad BWdad isn't around to enjoy the fun. ;D

Is Presto still around as our only BW guy?

While I am undoubtedly the cheapest guy on the board, I rejoiced today when I wrote the check for my youngest to attend Larry Kehres Football Camp. When he told me he wanted to stay in the dorms overnight each night, I gladly forked out that money as well, although truth be told, I really wanted to stay over as well.

I'll just be the lame old man flying down Route 224 every morning to stand at the fence and watch the camp. At least I have a kid that understands what a privledge it is after going to 6 Stagg Bowls. He's more impressed than I am that Larry always remembers his name.

BW will never be the same without the concrete turf....another case of ruined ambiance....

just like the mud on the Mount Union sideline that was, and probably still is, on of John Gogliardi's favorite football memories....

and the floods at Marietta....

I am getting choked up just thinking of all that we have lost...
