To me, being good for Bethany is being 5-5.  If they are in the game in the 4th Qtr against BW, W&J, & GCC, call it a great season. 

You have a hell of a QB.  Looks like he has some other weapons to work with this year.  Who knows, 6-4 or even 7-3 isn't out of the question with this schedule.   The Geneva game will tell you a lot as they were last years most improved team.  SVC did throw a lot of points on the board without giving up many last week.  Maybe they improved also.

In 2025 Bethany lost 41-6, the 40-37 win is a huge turnaround, if only for the offense.

The most competitive game this week is Westminster vs F&M Hansen has F&M 25-23 Massey 24-23

Shenandoah vs Geneva is the only other competitive game Hansen Shenandoah 32-23 Massey 31-21

W&J, Allegheny and Hiram are favored to win
Bethany, Thiel, Waynesburg and Grove City are underdogs.

CWRU and St Vincent aren't scheduled.

Do you know if practice began this week? As I understand the rule they could have begun on the 3rd.

Yeah they just started last week. They do have a couple scholarship players returning. I would guess less than 10. I think I am going to try and check out a practice to see what they look like. The O line seems to be pretty inexperienced based on the roster and the D line seems to have the most depth.

It's unfortunate that they couldn't find a game for this week. Play Keystone and let W&J find a more competitive game. That would have allowed them two more weeks of practice before facing Gove City, their PAC debut.

That is why its a 60 minute game.  Grove City took it to Mount and was the better team.  They controlled the game for 59 minutes 48 seconds. Unfortunately that is all that matters. 

They should be tough, especially if the RB (Ranken) isn't seriously hurt.

As for Bethany,  that was a tough one.

Otherwise favorites won and underdogs lost.

CWRU needs to be ready for Shenandoah next Saturday.

I don't think they looked. I hope they do next year but they are trying to do D3 sports as cheaply as possible and don't want to spend the money on overnight stays. I was told through the grapevine that they didn't think they would have enough players for the year so they didn't want non conference games but even now they have more players than Oberlin, who scheduled 10 games. Going forward I bet they schedule like Juniata and Lycoming to avoid spending too much $$$.

So what do you guys think about SFU being competitive going forward?  I feel like we have a pretty nice campus and a great coach but I really don't know.  Is it hard to recruit good athletes to places like Thiel and Hiram?  Also, is SFU kind of in the same boat?  We have probably good facilities for D3 but I see that St. Vincent's made a big upgrade and are better than our's at this point and our campus is pretty rural.

I wanted to make sure that you guys realize that I watch more D3 football than probably 99% of football fans.  I swear I was like one of the first five followers of the Third Division on IG LOL.

I now realize that no one could predict what would happen when St Francis announce the move to D3. I can imagine that D3 teams, especially those at the level a team with only 53 players, only 12 of them returning players, could be competitive with. Some on-line sources were incorrectly reporting that only a few from the 2025 roster were in the portal.

I should revise my remarks and substitute "unfortunate" for "criminal.'

FWIW, Hansen rates St Francis sixth in the conference just below Geneva and above St Vincent.

I think that Thiel is best chance for a win. Maybe Hiram and Bethany, although they have shown a spark against lesser teams.

Oops Thiel and StF don't play.

I now see what would have worked. StV didn't schedule games either 9/12 or 19. So the StV at StF game could have been moved from 10/17 to 9/12 or 9/19.

I can't get a handle on Grove City. Better than Mount most of the game, but also dominated by Cortland for three quarters at home

After 3, Mount had outgained them 298-260. What kept GC in the game was 3 picks that were great plays by the D.

My point was more that their performance in Alliance -- however you want to wordsmith it -- was a far cry from getting their clock cleaned through three quarters by a lesser team in Cortland, at home, in Week 1.
