But basically, the "Pioneer" mascot was unpopular and they took the opportunity to rebrand.  Some might claim it was just another example of caving to woke politics but if that were the case, wouldn't they change then name of the actual school since it's named after 2 actual "Pioneers"?

You are not alone!  I know CalCat and I are both feeling that as well.  Pretty solid win but I think Chapman in 2-weeks will probably be a bigger challenge (who would have thought a SCIAC team being a bigger challenge than a WIAC team would ever be a thing?).

Yeah--that was the worst I've seen Pacific play in a long time.  They have been going downhill the last few years and definitely look to be living up to the "P.U." moniker this season.

Speaking of that Pacific-Willamette game, the announcer was so uninterested in the teams/game that he spent most of the broadcast interviewing various people (AD, Women's basketball coach, etc.).  When Willamette scored the only TD of the game he didn't even notice until (I think) the ensuing kickoff where he made a comment like "while we were blabbing, it appears Willamette scored".....it might as well have been one of those audio free broadcasts.
