How's life in Salem, 509 Kittie?

Noticed that the Loggers out of conference schedule includes Oxy home, Whittier away, and Sewanee home. First time I had heard of Sewanee, which is in Tennessee, and plays in the SCAC. Looks like a good match for the Loggers, tho.

About Sewanee--also known as the University of the South, is a top-50 national liberal arts college (#32 in US News) with an endowment of $295 million in 2010.   Their best football was apparently in the 1890's, but they are competitive today in the SCAC.  Should be an interesting match.

Sewanee 2011 footballschedule--the Tigers apparently play a 10-game big boy schedule.

Sewanee doesn't appear to have been competitive in the SCAC in recent years, having won 3 games since 2008.  My bad.  Should be an interesting match for the Loggers.  8-)

They would be slightly less competitive than the Cal Tech basketball team...

Well. this IS the football board -- not men's basketball.  LOL  Maybe you should rethink it??

Nice read about Cecil Shorts III from Mt. Union.  :)

Jaguars' Cecil Shorts III has long bill from prolific college career

Wide receiver Cecil Shorts III, drafted in the fourth round by the Jaguars on Saturday, has a special motivation to make the team — paying off his school loans.

Shorts played at Division III Mount Union, which doesn't give athletic scholarships. Shorts had to pay his own way.

"The tuition was $32,000 last year. I was taking out loans and everything. My parents were helping me along the way," he said.

When he was asked if the overall tab was over $100,000, he said, "It went up. It started at $27,000 and it went up each year. That's still a lot of money. I don't want to talk about the tab. I won't be buying no cars. I've got to hold off on buying my parents a house. I've got to pay those loans off," he said.
