NWC Week 5 Power Rankings

1. Whitworth - Going to win the NWC.
2. Linfield - Improving passing game but need to put it together for a full 4 quarters.
3. L&C - Despite the injury bug, still took Whitworth to the limit.
4. Fox - Started 0-5 good chance to finish 5-5
5. PLU - Hot start in NWC was fool's gold.
6. Pacific - Middling football program
7. Puget Sound - At least they can score some points.
*8. Willamette - Tough remaining slate

*I do want to shout out to Willamette. They're still not good but at least showing some signs of improvement. Last season in NWC play they lost to L&C, Pacific, PLU and UPS by an average of 27 points. This time around they only dropped those games by 12 ppg. Still losing but becoming more competitive.

'Cat's passing game was much better (not sure how much of that was PLUs defense) with McNabb showing much greater accuracy.  Even in the first half, they moved the ball well but got killed by turnovers and penalties.  The lack of discipline has been an issue for years but the talent on the field has been able to overcome it.  That is not the case with this team.  I made a comment to CalCat last week that a key penalty not only allowed Whitworth to stay on the field when they should have been coming off, but it caused our defense to stay on the field resulting in one of our players sustaining a big injury.  Penalties create so many issues and need to be better addressed by the coaching staff.

Defense remains solid.  O-line is still a huge problem.  I agree with 11 on Spurbeck and O-Bagy getting more carries.  Perhaps Pfeifer needs to be used as a slot back.  He just doesn't seem comfortable running up the middle--which I guess could be because there is not a lot of room being created for him.
Go Cats!

Sorry, can't agree.  Defense has given all opponents way too many points.  Not the usual strong Linfield defense.

GO CATS! GO!

Keep in mind George that if the offense isn't moving the ball and sustaining drives then the defense is having to do more.  In the past--they'd get a 3 and out and the offense would eat up some clock.  Now they are back on the field quickly and that takes it's toll.  Not saying our D is up to par with our best but it's definitely what's keeping us in games.

What odds are you giving?
Looks like they played pretty well and would have covered the spread late in the game. Also seems like L&C and Linfield was a decent battle. Interesting conference race this year overall; WW should win out. Two more games for teams like PLU, GF, and L&C to build for next year.

'Cats defense played great in limiting L&C to their lower offensive output on the season and only giving up 14. The Pio offense has some speed and the 'Cats bottled that up for the most part today.

5-2 is a hell of a lot better than 2-5.

NWC Week 6 Power Rankings

1. Whitworth - Looks like a 1 and done team in the postseason but they're the best we've got this year.
2. Linfield - Not sure why this team can't put it all together yet. Plenty of talent
3. L&C - Had a WR playing QB and was within 1 TD of Linfield.
4. Fox - Building for next year and could be tough in 2026.
5. PLU - Played Whitworth close so that's nice.
6. Pacific - Have Fox this weekend. We'll see if they can stay in this one.
7. Puget Sound - Have forced Linfield into some stinkers in previous years at home.
8. Willamette - Not good, but like previously said, more competitive.

Good for you! I know you put a lot of time into it for a long time and the end product was elite like your DE play. More time for family is always the right call. Enjoy it to the fullest!
