I'll show one of my cards.  I had Trinity at 16.
Makes perfect sense to me!  ;)

LOL on the Trinity pick.... Gordon Mann thanks you, I'm sure... :)

I've got a lot of faith in them, but had been holding off for voting them this high, especially after losing to Bowdoin.

But I think they are the #2 team in the NE behind Amherst.

I had Johns Hopkins at 12...

Oh, I also had Elmhurst at 25, because the CCIW just KILLED me this week.

I'm pretty sure I was the Brandeis at #19.

I don't see how you can rank Salem State though.  They haven't come close to beating anyone good and they've lost to mediocre NE Region teams.  That one doesn't make a lot of sense.

I also question Rochester, St Lawrence and WPI, but Utica is ok.  They were #26 on my list for the second consecutive week.

Speaking of not making sense, how is it that now, not only are MHB voters in the majority in this poll, but my ranking of them isn't even the highest anymore?  Where did that come from?

Hoaf, it seems that any East Coast bias is well moderated.  :)

UMHB is still "others receiving votes" for me, and they host Concordia-Austin tonight.  Because of the "ice-storms" in January, UMHB is in the middle of a Saturday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, today-Tuesday,  Thursday, Saturday, Thursday (at McMurry) and Saturday (at Hardin-Simmons) run.

I had 25 of Pat Coleman's 26.  Wheaton was my #25.

Hoaf

I picked Utica and Rochester but that was about it. I did have NYU up there but I don't think it was at 12. So nice try but I'm not that big of a nut.

I am glad that we had another voter!  +1  :)

Mr. Ypsi

Actually, Hoaf, you were the NYU at #12 voter, but I see nothing indefensible about that!  You also had WPI higher than anyone else.

But, overall, I saw no Eastern bias - you were not 'guilty' of the Brandeis, Trinity, Salem St., RIC, or St. Lawrence votes! ;D

[BTW, my policy generally is to never 'out' a voter's ballot, but I wanted to defend our 'newbie'.  Usually I don't allow new voters after week two, but we've had some recent attrition in the ranks, and with the non-return of knightstalker this year, I jumped at the chance for another eastern voter.  Welcome aboard, Hoaf.]

Hoaf, last year I was perplexed by UW-Wiac du jour.  Which WIAC do I want to believe this week?  The same can be said for the CCIW this year.

It is looking like we need to focus more on NYU's UAA record and less on the neighborhood teams that they "warm up" against.   :)

I'm still ranking four teams each from the UAA and the CCIW.  I feel that all of those teams are worthy and the "just missed" schools aren't doing much to prove otherwise.

Okay, I couldn't remember whether or not I had put NYU at #12. But I remember why I did. I felt that they have a good team and have been playing good ball lately. They pulled out a big win vs. Washington U after narrowly losing to them the week before in OT. Also, they beat a solid team in Chicago as well.

Two big wins versus good teams you have lost to previously result in a jolt up the rankings.

Also, their earlier loss to Brandeis isn't that bad when you remember that Brandeis is a  solid team.

I also thought that Lake Erie, Utica, and Rochester had a chance of getting on the poll. I've seen some of them play and they have some stellar players.

Why? Why did I buy into the Hope hype?

Hoops Fan - losing to Calvin is no scarlet letter. That's a rivalry game. I'm not going to consider it much in my poll. Anything can happen in games like that.
