Yeah they at-large bids but "Pool C" is so much more intrinsically D3, I am sad to see the term passing into oblivion.

15 of the 21 bids are projected to Power 5 conference members.

We survived the loss of the "Quality of Wins Index" and I bet we can get over losing Pool C, too. Anything that makes D-III more understandable to the masses is a good thing.

Good point, Pat, although I, too, will miss "Pool C". I'm not going to let my insider status blind me to the larger needs of D3 by clinging to esoteric jargon.

Yesterday's NPI had Amherst as the At-large 11. After their 1st round loss in the NESCAC tournament, could they be on the bubble now? Only time will tell. I think they are fairly safe. All four remaining teams are all in the top 21 At-large positions, so no bid thief here.

Not having the double round robin makes clear who Amherst is voting for.  They split with Wesleyan and Bates, lost to Trinity, beat Tufts.  The Lord Mammoths are rooting for their pachydermian bretheren all the way!

Should this board be renamed "At-Large (formerly Pool C)"?

LOL 😂

I'm not a Hall of Famer, so I can't do it (maybe nobody can?).  I could create a new thread with that name and merge this one into it.  Not sure I care enough, though.

Since Pool A is AQ, Pool C is At Large... what would we call Pool B were it to ever be needed again?

It doesn't exist anymore.  With conference membership now a requirement to get into D3, we're unlikely to ever have a critical mass calling for it - if a new conference forms, their members will just be in the at-large pool with everyone else until their two years are up.

I'm a Hall of Famer, and I can't change it. Pat created this board, so I suspect that he's the only person who can change the name.
