Danica is in IRL, not NASCAR.

Nice catch PC. But by this time next year she may well be a NASCAR driver as some Sprint Cup owner dying for a sponsor brings her over. She may not win but she'll bring plenty of TV time.

Her Andretti-Green contract ends this season I believe.

I think I'm correct in saying this was a Go Daddy commercial.

Did anyone see the story about the new Johnnie hockey jerseys?
I might be convinced to buy one of these at the bookstore.

Very old school, no?  I like them as well.  Particularly the one on the right that say's "Johnnies" and has the white laces on the cardinal background.  Nice.

EDIT: Looking at them again I find that I really like the fact that there is no away-school demoralization with the designs.  Both of them are look great to the point that they would both make good home jerseys.  I assume the one on the left is the home jersey, but it's tough to tell.  I actually like the dominance of the red on the right hand one a little better - which is not common for an away jersey.

Point of clarification for the "hot-lander"...

I thought that the upper garment of the hockey uniform was called a sweater and not a jersey.

Is that correct?   :)

For a Texan, you're pretty smart! ;D

You are correct that hockey players do not wear 'jerseys'.

[Though I can't confirm what the Dallas team wears! :D]

Well, that's not settled opinion.  While the hockey uniform is called a 'sweater' from traditional usage, the term 'jersey' is interchanged seamlessly in conversation.  Even the NHL shop refers to the uniform as a 'jersey'.

So, we don't need a couple out-staters coming in here and trying to show us up on knowing our own sport better than we do.  There's no need to worry, the culture and tradition of hockey still lives strong in Minnesota (and parts dispersed).

Rag on the Texan if you must, but don't go off on the Red Wings fan! ;D

At grave risk to my karma, do they still play professional hockey in Minnesota? :D

[In Michigan, they wear sweaters, never jerseys.]

"Sweater" is what I heard the Red Wing announcers call it as well as Ralph Strangis and Daryl Reaugh, the announcers for the Dallas (harrummph) Stars.   ;D

Thanks

All the same, you can't spell scum without "UM"!

Since Ralph Strangis is a transplant from Minnesota, you get a + from me for citing him as a resource. I think the top of a hockey uniform can be called either a sweater or a jersey without violating any tradition or convention. Just as the bottom can be called breezers or hockey pants without ridicule.
