Fun stat I found today - Bethel is No. 1 in country in 3rd down defense %, 18.2, also No. 2 for Red Zone defense. Recipe for success right there.

I looked at the series history and the two teams last played on October 2001 back when I was still in college. Macalaster's last win in the series came in 1968. Does St John's shutout Macalester for their fourth shutout of the season? Looking at stats for all levels of college football, St John's is leading all levels in scoring defense despite the points Bethel scored in Saturday's loss.

Schools like Mac need to decide if their going to actually support a football program. My bet is they drop the program within 5 years.

How bad is Hamline if they were shut out 29-0 by Macalester?

I haven't looked at the box score, nor watched any of that game, but I was surprised/impressed when the Hamline Freshman QB got into the game in the fourth quarter against BU. He certainly was able to do things that the starting QB couldn't. Granted, BU had subbed in many younger players by then to get some field time experience, but it looked to me like Hamline might need to make a QB switch. But what do I know?

Yeah I find it funny that Bethel allowed more points to Hamline than St. Johns

Why is that funny?

I could see them leaving the MIAC all together - didn't their football team actually have decent success in their other conference?

They made the playoffs in 2014 when they were in the MWC, despite losing to Hamline that year

I just saw that Boz passed away--easily CSB/SJU's biggest fans and promoter!  RIP, my friend.

Robert Zimmerman

A great guy and it will be hard to fill his shoes at CSB/SJU. My son was an accounting major at SJU and now works for Deloitte in Minneapolis. Boz helped him get an international tax internship in London when he studied abroad during his junior year. Boz also helped him get an internship at Deloitte which eventually turned into his career. Boz went above and beyond for his students, in and out of the classroom. RIP Boz, you will be missed.

Boys of Fall

What I liked most about Boz is that he brought academics into the athletics.  He knew these were D3 athletes who would be making their living outside the sport they were playing (Bartch and very few others aside).  He was always proud of his accounting guys.  You could always see him with his red and white Accounting shirt.

RIP Boz.

BDB

My good friend and business associate of 25 years played with Boz at SJU. He had Boz send me a copy of "A Legacy Unrivaled" in which Boz wrote me a personal note, we have never met.

Picking it up just now I recall how I read the book from cover to cover in one sitting, and was very impressed at how well he communicated the subject. He was a very good writer.

Condolences to his family and those that knew him personally. I know my friend SamWill47SJU is hurting.

Well, Mac dominated the time of possession today, so they've got that going for them.

WIAC has officially begun self-cannibalism season. If UWL comes out unscathed they'll have earned that top 4 seed.

It used to be that you had to have your knees covered by pads--I remember a flag or two being thrown.  These days, some guys are practically wearing mid-thigh shorts!
