Out as of yesterday.  Weak showing this season.

This was the first morning that I thought, "Uh oh."  63 F in our house.  The next few nights look cold, but daytime temps are rebounding.  I have some time.  ;D

A tradition unrivaled...

My wife's cousin is in the aerospace program at UofM, but he must not be on those teams since he was up at the cabin with us this last weekend.

Also, one of these teams is not like the other..

So you, and others know, BU completed its flights last May on the scheduled competition date. Because of low cloud cover, some teams were allowed to do their final flight on their "home field" and then submit their results. They were given until the end of September to complete this task. Normally we get results of the contest mid-June.

After I posted that I realized it might have happened a while ago. Will have to ask him about it next time I see him.

Still in the running in Fargo with the house a chilly 62 this morning, with the added caveat that our AC is still technically on.

I'm out as well. Heat was turned on last weekend while I was out of town. Sad day, poor leadership on my part.

I'm predicting 42-20 SJU.

Well, for a score predition I admittedely pulled out of thin air, I'm awfully close to what the composite score predictions expect for this Saturday:
SJU 44 - Carl 18.4

Now watch it's 24-20 or 48 - 6 ...

6-3. One touchdown, 1pt safety on XP for other team, and a normal safety (This is stupid and will not happen)

I need a ruling: technically my furnace isn't on. It's about 61 degrees in the house.

I did try to turn the furnace on, however, but it's not functioning.

Considering letting it ride through the weekend and then calling the HVAC company.

I'd say you're still in the contest because you are not heating the home. As far as I know "intent" has no barring on the situation. The furnace isn't producing heat..... you're still in.  8-)
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

I'm not the commissioner, but I, too, would consider you still the master of your domain.

62 F this morning--tomorrow morning will be the real test.

I'll assume living in the FL panhandle is an auto-DQ from the Master of Domain contest.

Hello again to everybody on this board; think my screen name used to be Carl Spackler back in the day and stumbled back in after a very lengthy absence. My Air Force callsign and the story behind it derives from the Happy Gilmore character; hence that change.

All the best to my good buddies Retired Old Rat and Johnnie Red (who I gather is fighting Alzheimer's, God bless him). Fun memories of enjoying the best pre-game burger in Christendom with those great gentlemen as well many others who hang here. The BU-SJU games it was my privilege to play in are fondly remembered regardless of outcome, and I know several Johnnie posters played in those as well. Cheers to you guys!

Was a complete basket case a couple Saturdays ago running errands while watching the SJU-BU live stream; still can't calmly watch football I care about after all these years. Great game between two teams I suspect will still be practicing with snow on the ground. Also really fun to bring my two teenage daughters back to Arden Hills this past weekend to show them the house that built their old man and introduce them to many dear friends.

Cheers to all, fun to be back amongst you!
Bethel Royals on to victory as we proudly sing your name, HEY HEY HEY!

Retired Old Rat

Welcome back.  I've wondered several times what had become of you.  You'll always be Carl Spackler to me.

I see the natives are getting restless, so as Commissioner of the Annual Golden Thermostat "Last On" competition, I declare the games open!

Eligibility: You must reside in a Canada facing cone from northern Iowa, west up through eastern Dakotas and east including the entire state of Wiscy. We will throw in the UP for good measure.

Rule #1: On the honor system, if your home thermostat is turned to "heat" and your machine in the basement kicks in firing up the fossil fuels to blow heat throughout the domicile you must post on here that you are out!

Rule #2: Heat producing fireplaces, electric heaters etc. are considered the same as the Rheem, Amana or whatever in your basement. Basically, if you are enjoying any source of heat in your home besides the sunshine through your window or your hot wife, you are out of the competition.

Now, I will caution any rookies to this competition,it is not to be taken lightly. We have veterans to this that will challenge the very extremes of household comfort.

Exclusions: Any heat you enjoy in your car, at your friends, at work etc does not count. This competition turf is your domicile where you call home.

Good luck! We have a multiple time champ in Duffman that will once again be tough to beat, and Retired Old Rat has owned the common wall category.

That being said, "I'm Out!" Never a contender but always warm.  ;D
