And the friggin' 3am karma troll can give it a rest.

If you have nothing better to do than set your alarm to wake in the middle of the night and tag me for a couple points (yes, I must have made two, maybe three, fiercely dedicated enemies in this recent post season), then you don't make me feel so bad any more.  At least I'm wasting my time to put food on the table.

Oz;  You can start using your airport time to begin your opening piece for johnniefootball.com 2.0.  DSJU

Another day, another airport lounge, another delayed flight.  If I have one bit of advice for any Johnnie (or any approaching grad for that matter) considering careers at the moment: have a good think about what you want from life.  Not that I'm complaining, but I fly a friggin' lot (and I am complaining a bit).  I thought, like many young dummies, that I would only do it for a few years and then move on.  15 years later, here I sit...

You find yourself in a position of being skilled at addressing difficult problems on short notice and you get locked in.  You get brought in on last minute consultations where there is "no one else that can do this".  On the planet apparently.

So, what brings on this little pity party?  Tonight I sit in the Sydney Qantas lounge, waiting on a flight delayed for mechanical problems while my girls now miss Carols by Candlelight at the local Dendy Park.  Australia still has public (gov't facilitated even) celebrations of Christmas.  This particular Carols is organized by the local council and a few thousand local residents get together and the kids run around celebrating Christmas (and the start of summer vacation in a week).

So, I'm killing time, bummed out and in the mood to give advice as I soak my liver with free booze (Qantas lounges have complementary drinks - frequent travelers appreciate that service).  The real bummer?  I'd probably make the same choices even though I regret them tonight.  Can't change my spots, I guess.

OZ, I hope you made it home, and I hope the kids got to see the carols.  I am in a similar position excpet my mode of transportation is a car instead of an airplane.  I work a WIDE area that can at times hold me up due to weather conditions or place me home late and missing out on just spending time with Mrs. Klop.  I guess I have not quit yet, but for some weird reason when everything is going right I do enjoy the job.  So screw the karma knoll, he has bit my bad since I entered the board.  I am not leaving, I like you Johnnines.

1.  If he squints at the purple jerseys, he can pretend he's still coaching the Vikings.
2.  Plenty of coeds around that have a..."zest for living," if you know what I mean.
3.  "THE JOHNNIES ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE!"

The Tommies job has got Denny Green's name all over it! :D

If the tommies are looking in the right direction for a head coach, then look no further than Ryan Leaf!! ;D

Anyone think that 23 months is enough time for Vick in the slammer?

More than enough.  You have guys out there that have beaten up their 5th girlfriend that havent seen an hour of jail.  He won't do all that time either I bet.

Federall Pen....Even with top credit for good behavior, will have to serve 20 months.

I still wish he would have run, and then had "Dog" Chapman catch him, that would be friggin' GREAT tv!!  ;D

Um, it's the same at NW - if you're in their equivalent of the Quantas lounge Oz was sitting in.

By far the best lounge I've even been in was the SAS lounge in Copenhagen - very good food, Danish beer on tap - even the bathrooms (which one had to visit to recycle the Danish beer) were all private! :D

I feel for you OZ. I didn't have to travel as much as you do, but most of the time, I had someone waiting who expected me to be there at a certain time, because they had someone scheduled for me to "see" at a certain time.  The delays, weather etc, really stressed me out, even though I had no control over such thing - or maybe because I had no control. When I retired, I felt my Blood Pressure go down about 20%. Is it worth it? I guess you've answered that question for now. You'll know when to make changes when the answer changes for you.

VOJ-- If I'm not mistaken when we sat next to each other on the way back from the Stagg in 03 you were trying to get into the back of the plane for the free drinks  ;) but I was able to restrain you......good thing too if I remember correctly  :o

OZ-- The delay you described sounds awful, but pales in comparison to the SJU FB team trip to Salem (er...someplace on the east coast) for the Stagg Bowl in 2000.  Start with a 2 1/2 hour delay on campus due to road conditions on the way to the TC.  Get to the Humphrey terminal only to have to wait another hour+.  Get up in the air and have the plane diverted to Raleigh/Durham NC instead of Roanoke due to ice in Virginia.  Land in NC at 3:30am, load up on two Soviet issue (Linnemann's term) buses for the 4 hour bus trip through northern NC and southern Virginia on icy two lane roads.  Add a bus driver that wanted to go to sleep as he was driving, only thing that kept him up was Peggy Gagliardi.....arrive at the Wyndham in Roanoke at 7:30am when scheduled to arrive at 11pm the night before.  After losing a heart breaker to Mount Union find out that due to fog in Roanoke the team plane has not arrived.  Fan charters able to leave as they were already on the ground.  Receive a call at 10pm that says the plane may be in the next morning.......send everyone to bed ;)  Get NCAA wake-up call at 5am and need to be on the buses at 6am.  Instead of the easy 5 minute trip to the airport in Roanoke, buses travel 3 hours to Charlotte, NC where our plane is ready to go.....get back to campus at 2pm on Sunday.

So, how do ATVs run while "partially submerged"?
They'll run for a while, until they turtle over, like this...

Then after the recovery we get our northern Minnesota version of the Quantas lounge...

But this makes it all worth it...

This guy better watch out. Leaving your money on the bar = not having it for long.

That trip was quite the experience.  You forgot to mention that Sipowicz from NYPD Blue was our busdriver.  Also, I ended up on the floor for the trip to the hotel.

Any predictions as to this weekend?  Brice is coming over and I've impressed my wife into weekend cooking/slaving service so we're looking forward to a MUC blowout with full stomachs and full mugs of beer, at least.  I'd like to see them get knocked off but I seriously doubt that they will.  Even though it was early in the season, UWW was not able to beat a terrible SCSU team (D-2) whom MUC would have literally mauled.  UWW's QB was healthy then too.  We'll have to wait until next year to see if someone can knock them off.

He was healthy for that SCSU game, yes, but he sure didn't look at home in the offense. From what I've been reading, he's really settled in and gotten comfortable running the show at UWW.
Nice day, huh?

Jones is injured?

Also, did someone post the news that Beaver won the Gagliardi?  If so I missed it; I just saw it - http://www.sportsnetwork.com/default.asp?c=sportsnetwork&page=cf-div3/news/dfn4116870.htm
