So, how do ATVs run while "partially submerged"?
They'll run for a while, until they turtle over, like this...

You the one in the orange hat?  Where's the guy who was on the ATV?

You guys sure are tough on your toys.

OZ-- The delay you described sounds awful, but pales in comparison to the SJU FB team trip to Salem (er...someplace on the east coast) for the Stagg Bowl in 2000.  Start with a 2 1/2 hour delay on campus due to road conditions on the way to the TC.  Get to the Humphrey terminal only to have to wait another hour+.  Get up in the air and have the plane diverted to Raleigh/Durham NC instead of Roanoke due to ice in Virginia.  Land in NC at 3:30am, load up on two Soviet issue (Linnemann's term) buses for the 4 hour bus trip through northern NC and southern Virginia on icy two lane roads.  Add a bus driver that wanted to go to sleep as he was driving, only thing that kept him up was Peggy Gagliardi.....arrive at the Wyndham in Roanoke at 7:30am when scheduled to arrive at 11pm the night before.  After losing a heart breaker to Mount Union find out that due to fog in Roanoke the team plane has not arrived.  Fan charters able to leave as they were already on the ground.  Receive a call at 10pm that says the plane may be in the next morning.......send everyone to bed ;)  Get NCAA wake-up call at 5am and need to be on the buses at 6am.  Instead of the easy 5 minute trip to the airport in Roanoke, buses travel 3 hours to Charlotte, NC where our plane is ready to go.....get back to campus at 2pm on Sunday.

That trip was quite the experience.  You forgot to mention that Sipowicz from NYPD Blue was our busdriver.  Also, I ended up on the floor for the trip to the hotel.

Duff-- If I'm not mistaken Sipowitz was the former bus driver for Macey Gray.....the defense's bus was driven by the Riddle Master 8) 8)  Why were you on the floor?

Nope, I was dry and toasty warm in my fishhouse. ATV owner is in the boat.

Today's joke du jour:
A husband and wife went for marriage counselling after 15 years of  marriage.

When asked what the problem was, the wife went into a passionate, painful  tirade, listing every problem they had ever had in the 15 years they had been married. She went on and on and on: neglect, lack of intimacy, emptiness, loneliness, feeling unloved and unlovable, an entire laundry list of un-met needs she had endured over the course of their marriage.

Finally, after allowing this to go on for a sufficient length of time, the therapist got up, walked around the desk and, after asking the wife to stand, embraced and kissed her passionately while fondling her breasts and crotch.

The woman instantly shut up and quietly sat down as though she was in a daze. The therapist turned to the husband and said, "This is what your wife needs at least three times a week...... Can you do this?"

The husband thought for a moment and replied ......

"Well, I can drop her off here on Mondays and Wednesdays, but on Fridays, I play golf."

Any predictions as to this weekend?  Brice is coming over and I've impressed my wife into weekend cooking/slaving service so we're looking forward to a MUC blowout with full stomachs and full mugs of beer, at least.  I'd like to see them get knocked off but I seriously doubt that they will.  Even though it was early in the season, UWW was not able to beat a terrible SCSU team (D-2) whom MUC would have literally mauled.  UWW's QB was healthy then too.  We'll have to wait until next year to see if someone can knock them off.

Chewey/Bryce;  The slaving part sounds interesting..... however, will the two of you have time to scan the New York Times Bestsellers list or will you settle for a quick trip to the Minnesota State Mankato bookseller?

For Fins and the other Little League coaches and baseball fans - a must-have Christmas present.

(I think Littel spent too many hours in the sun at KC.)

How about a little +K for Quantas...drinks while you wait for the plane, never see the tight asses at Northwest doing that...

Um, it's the same at NW - if you're in their equivalent of the Quantas lounge Oz was sitting in.

By far the best lounge I've even been in was the SAS lounge in Copenhagen - very good food, Danish beer on tap - even the bathrooms (which one had to visit to recycle the Danish beer) were all private! :D

Geez and here I thought he was just sitting at the gate...thanks for the tip TMert...I have to start reading posts closer...

VOJ-- If I'm not mistaken when we sat next to each other on the way back from the Stagg in 03 you were trying to get into the back of the plane for the free drinks  ;) but I was able to restrain you......good thing too if I remember correctly  :o

Disregard what SJUSectinon105 said.

I was on the floor because the bus was cramped and it was either take the floor or sit behind Salvato, who's seatback was broken and stuck in the fully reclined position.

Luckily, Wooderson and I scammed a free breakfast buffet from the concierge when we got to the hotel.  It made me feel a little better.

Another day, another airport lounge, another delayed flight.  If I have one bit of advice for any Johnnie (or any approaching grad for that matter) considering careers at the moment: have a good think about what you want from life.  Not that I'm complaining, but I fly a friggin' lot (and I am complaining a bit).  I thought, like many young dummies, that I would only do it for a few years and then move on.  15 years later, here I sit...

You find yourself in a position of being skilled at addressing difficult problems on short notice and you get locked in.  You get brought in on last minute consultations where there is "no one else that can do this".  On the planet apparently.
So, what brings on this little pity party?  Tonight I sit in the Sydney Qantas lounge, waiting on a flight delayed for mechanical problems while my girls now miss Carols by Candlelight at the local Dendy Park.  Australia still has public (gov't facilitated even) celebrations of Christmas.  This particular Carols is organized by the local council and a few thousand local residents get together and the kids run around celebrating Christmas (and the start of summer vacation in a week).

So, I'm killing time, bummed out and in the mood to give advice as I soak my liver with free booze (Qantas lounges have complementary drinks - frequent travelers appreciate that service).  The real bummer?  I'd probably make the same choices even though I regret them tonight.  Can't change my spots, I guess.

Consider it "job security!' ;) That is what I am telling myself as a prepare for a presentation tonight at 6:30pm. No overtime pay, no comp time...but I am (apparently) good at public speaking so I know they will keep me around! :D

As for the smiters, just wait until you have stalker smiters that must scroll through weeks of post to go back and find you (after being absent from the board) just to smite you! It makes me feel special and creeps me out all at the same time! ;D

Thanks all for the posts.  Just to report back, I made it home and it was one of the special moments when it makes you glad you married the woman you did (happens about once every five years, right? ;) ).

Tania took the girls to Carols for a while, despite the two year old not having any sleep (Tania took her to a Wiggles concert earlier in the day).  The girls were so happy that they left Carols early without a complaint and the two older ones watched the fireworks while sitting in our front yard after they got home.  So Tania was in a good mood and greeted me with a big happy smooch despite me being late 4 hours in the end.

As in the ending of possibly the greatest Christmas movie ever made, A Christmas Story, 'All was right with the world.'

Don't forget those folks with the medical degrees 8)  I didn't say you were the leader, only you wanted to join the group......Best part of the story was the look on the face of the flight attendant when she asked the "question"  PRICELESS.

Thanks for the clarification on why you were on the floor on the offense's bus Duff......what a trip ;D

The one that's hard to fathom is why someone seeks out JJR to smite him.  All he does is pull together the Stiftungfestivities, to which other teams' fans are invited, while his posts are either informational or, for the most part, supportive of other MIAC teams.  (His new position seems to have taken off whatever edge his posts used to have.)  I give him +k every chance I get and yet he continues to lose karma.  He must have a secret history on the board I don't know about.
