Bo Ryan too.  What takes this committee so long?

"What takes this committee so long" seems like a very valid question. However, rather than McCarrell, who achieved greatness in 1978-1980, and Ryan, the question seems even more applicable to someone like North Central's Bill Warden, who graduated from NCC way back in 1955. Without the benefit of ever making a three point shot, Warden (NAIA at the time) scored 2,249 points! This is almost 500 more points than NCC's second all-time scorer, a 1st team All-American no less.
So yes, it does appear this committee needs to emerge from hibernation a little more frequently. 🤗

The group is still pretty new. They're still working through decades of basketball players and coaches.

Ah, a succinct explanation of the "delay." Thank you.

I think it's also inaccurate! Bo Ryan was inducted ages ago -- if you look at the page you linked, you see the 2019 feature we did on Bo Ryan when he was elected:

https://www.d3hoops.com/notables/2019/10/bo-ryan-master-teacher

And in addition, Bill Warden is actually in this induction class. Again, I invite you to more fully read the page you linked to.

NPU press release on Dan McCarrell's upcoming induction into the SCB Hall of Fame.

Only two men have coached an NCAA men's basketball program to three consecutive national titles. One was John Wooden. The other is Dan McCarrell.

McCarrell won 295 and 284 games at North Park and Mankato State (D2-MN), respectively.  I wonder how many games he won in the bldg now known on campus as Hamming Hall, and maybe? into the years of Bosko's college playing days.

I do not believe NPC competed off-campus for home games on a regulation-sized court.

None. The crackerbox was already built and in use when North Park began playing other four-year colleges as a newly-minted varsity program the year before McCarrell matriculated at NPC. It's thus the only home court the varsity Vikings have ever had.

Actually, they did. For at least the latter part of the school's junior college period the Vikings played their home games at nearby Roosevelt High School.

With the background check and other vetting processes almost complete, an announcement should be forthcoming fairly soon as to the identity of NCC's new Head Assistant Coach, who will replace Alex Washington. Alex, who did some good work for the Cardinals, recently resigned to enter a profession outside of coaching.

Alex Sorenson '18/M'23 is North Central's new Head Assistant coach. Alex spent the last 2 years as the Head Assistant at Loras of the ARC before ascending to NCC and the CCIW. Prior to that he was the Cardinals 🏀 Graduate Assistant in 2021-2022, and 2022-2023.

Alex began his college playing career at D2 Northern Michigan before transferring to North Central for his final 3 years of eligibility. Despite playing for the Cardinals for only 3 years he ranks in the top 10 for career points scored (1,443), field goals made (594), points per game (17.2), and rebounds (731).

Had Alex played all 4 years at NCC, he would likely be the #2 all-time scorer. He is the Cards all-time blocks leader with 146 over his three year playing career. He also holds the all-time NCC record for most points scored in a single game with 54 against Robert Morris-Chicago (now part of D2 Roosevelt) on Dec. 30, 2017.
Sorenson earned All-CCIW First Team honors each year he played at North Central, and was named a D3Hoops All-American in the 2017-2018 season.

NCC TRANSFER

6'8" PF Ethan Marlowe is transferring from D2 Northwest Missouri State to North Central. He will have two years of eligibility remaining. Ethan attended high school at St. Charles North where was All-Area 3 times, and All-State as both a junior and senior.
No doubt a big addition for the Cardinals.

Carroll has received a huge commitment from a transfer wing.  6'4" Northern Michigan transfer, Michael McNabb, will suit up for Carroll with 3 years of eligibility left.  McNabb was receiving D1 interest before committing to Northern Michigan as a senior at Grafton High School.
