If the weather cooperates, a trip to Kalamazoo may be in my near future...

I know some people who might save you a seat.   ;D  Hope it works out.

For those of you who live far away (NW Hope fan, Scottiedawg, Chicago Hope Nut to name a few), I may bring good news for all of you. Tonight, Hope tested out a stream of the game. It started out shaky as the announcers arrived late, but it appears to be fairly nice. It appears to have multiple camera angles and student announcers. I do not know a date for a debut or anything of that sort, but they did do a test run and by all accounts I heard it went well.

Sweet!  8-)

Sorry to "rain on your parade" but what I heard tonight is that despite some testing tonight, any
streaming of Hope games is still a long ways off.

The fact that they are even taking these steps is a reason to smile at least.  Instead of being able to watch Hope/Albion last night I watched parts of Bethany/Thiel.......I mean come on, there is no excuse for this now, it's 2012.

This is an amazing coincidence

Regarding the testing of video streaming, I had a couple of conversations with people in the know about this and the plan appears to be this:  Several times this year there may be testing of the process with students involved in the Communications department of the college.  The goal is to be ready to tie this in next academic year with class work and allow the production of a nice video product that would represent the college nicely.  Thus, I don't think we can look for anything this year, but next season is a real possibility if the testing works as expected and there is student interest from an academic standpoint.

Not sure if many of you saw the result of the Olivet/Schoolcraft HS game from Tuesday, but the ending was fantastic.  #33 from Schoolcraft makes two unbelievable shots to win it for Olivet. Gotta love his hustle to get back on D, but ouch, so unlucky.  Start vid around 2:20.

Do you think #33 even realizes what he did.  I had to watch it twice just to be sure.  Good find!

By the way if you are in need of a Saturday evening basketball fix after the days MIAA play. The #1 ranked team in Class A Detroit Pershing is playing the #1 team in Class B Lansing Sexton over here    at Lansing Eastern's Don Johnson Fieldhouse Saturday night.

Also if you were curious about Ryan Majerle's sudden departure from Toledo, there is this today.

Glad he's found a place that's a good fit for him.  Life's too short to spend any of it being miserable if it's within your control to be otherwise.

I think I'll take you up on that.

I was planning on training it in to Kzoo tomorrow, but (and I'm sure Sac will cringe x2), I am going to experience Welsh Ryan Arena and cheer on the Spartans. For those of you going to the game and happen to be beer lovers, Kalamazoo Beer Week begins tomorrow. Bell's has free tours and for the more adventurous, there's a pub crawl starting at 6pm.

I was actually at the MSU/Iowa game Tuesday night.  State is actually an enjoyable team to watch because they have no business being as good as they are, but they play basketball with a purpose and don't just rely on their athletic gifts.   I only cringe because green is such an unfortunate color.

If Welsh-Ryan has ice cream cookie sandwiches I highly recommend it.  It is the highlight of my rare trips to the Breslin Center.
