Week 4 SCIAC Game Predictions

**CMS 17, Cal Lutheran 14**
CMS takes this one in a close, low-scoring game. One of the biggest factors could be the early start for Cal Lutheran. With players potentially waking up around 6:00 AM for a team meal and then making an early bus ride to CMS for an 1:00 PM kickoff, fatigue could play a role. Add in temperatures expected to be around 100 degrees on the new turf, and the home-field advantage for CMS could be significant. I expect this one to come down to the fourth quarter.

**Redlands 24, APU 10**
Redlands' defense shows up in a big way and does a good job stopping the run. If Redlands can control the line of scrimmage and force APU into obvious passing situations, I think they take care of business.

**La Verne 24, Pomona-Pitzer 21**
La Verne wins another close one. Pomona-Pitzer started Russo last week against CMS, which made it seem like they may have been getting him ready for this matchup, but he did not play in the second half. It is hard to know whether that was injury-related or something else. La Verne continues to play inspired football, and based on the way they have competed so far, they look like a team that believes it can play with anyone in the conference.

**Chapman 42, Whittier 7**
This is going to be a difficult matchup for Whittier. Chapman appears to have found some important pieces at quarterback and wide receiver, which were two of the bigger question marks entering the season. The Chapman defense also looks legitimate, with the defensive line in particular playing dominant football. If Chapman controls the line of scrimmage early, this one could get away from Whittier quickly.
