Ithaca College just announced the addition of Women's Flag Football, starting Spring 2028.

https://athletics.ithaca.edu/news/2026/10/15/ithaca-college-to-add-womens-flag-football-in-2027-28.aspx

Are they the first LL school to offer this? I notice it isn't a sanctioned LL sport yet; are any other schools looking to add the sport?

ETA: Read the article more closely; looks like St Lawrence, Union, and William Smith already offer the sport at the varsity level. So 4 LL teams now...that's pretty impressive.

Yes, William Smith was the first LL school to announce and starts this Spring . We hired Rusty Virkler from Owego who took his  high school team to the World Championship and made the semi finals with a 19-1 record and brought a few players with him to HWS. I overheard a few of the girls having a discussion at a recent Hobart game and they have a high football IQ. Should be fun.

Amazing and overly impressive #24 Rowan survives one of the NJAC beasts, Kean, by 3. Rowan has shown time and time again that they are easily top 15. Show some damn respect. 😂😂😂

Union announced the formation of a women's flag football team over a year ago and named a longtime local Section #2 high school flag  football coach Frank Rogers as their first coach. https://www.union.edu/news/stories/202510/union-launch-womens-flag-football-program-spring-2027 ..."A typical roster contains 25 players. Teams compete in a 7-on-7 format on an 80' x 40' field, with games consisting of four 12-minute quarters." The Garnet Chargers will play their home games at Frank Bailey Field at Bertagna-Class of 1985 Stadium.

The women have been practicing for weeks in anticipation of their initial season beginning in 2027. They have their first scrimmage open to the public today 10/18 at 3:30. https://www.instagram.com/p/DefIOK7mGaq/

They will be part of a league formed by the ECAC in conjunction with the NY Jets and a million dollar donation by owner Woody Johnson. They've actually already concluded the inaugural season this spring with Marymount emerging as the first champ.  ...https://unionathletics.com/news/2025/12/2/ecac-to-launch-colleges-largest-womens-flag-football-league.aspx ...Four Liberty League schools have announced plans to participate. Ufan, a very Comprehensive summary of the new sport rollout. The Herons Flag Football team will start their inaugural season on McCooey Field that is separate from the Boz but is currently the Field Hockey field and was the Mens Lax field for a few seasons. It should be a great sport as the season unfolds next year.

So the new top 25 poll has Ithaca holding on to a single vote. I'm really rooting for a Cortaca Jug upset at Yankee Stadium and totally messing with the rankings.

And just think...Dickinson had 45 votes a week ago! LOLOLOL.

I did correct a previous typo concerning the Herons Flag Football, I mistaking described the team as a slang word used for cigarettes by omitting the l in flag. My apologies to smokers that might have been offended.

I am too, though mostly due to **** Cortland (if they lose the LL), and playoff seeding (if they win) as opposed to caring about the poll.

The NPI currently has Ithaca pretty far down the list, and going 8-2 would likely mean a road game against a much stronger opponent. I'm all for little edges adding up over time. If a possible home playoff game gives you another chance to get some recruits on campus, and an extra week of practice/game gives your guys more reps, sign me up.

Also, I'm here for the 20 TD Chris Scully season, and boosting Nick Lang's stats in general via a 12-week season

LL is back on the field this week. A full league bye week feels like a month off. Hopefully the players are all rested and healthy.

Mach's perfect predictions

Currently 29-6 on the season and hoping to keep it rolling.

RPI - 42
Rochester - 14
A 'tougher' game for RPI than previous weeks. But I think they take care of business. This is a trap game though, so hopefully RPI avoids the trap.

Ithaca - 31
Union - 21
Excited for this one. This call isn't due to my dislike of Union. I just think Ithaca is the better team. Ironically, I wouldn't be super pissed if Union wins. That would really make the last 2 weeks even more fun.

Hobart - 52
St. Lawrence - 10
Hobart rolls. Offense clicks. St. Lawrence does St. Lawrence things.

Game of the Week!

Hilbert - 8
Buffalo State - 35
Hilbert scores! But no PAT. They get a 2-pt conversion. This game is what the kids call 'pure fire'!

Book it.

The LL is back in action and Bartman is 30-6 on the season (29-5 in LL and 0-1 in the E8)

RPI.          41.      Rochester    10.  The Sliderulers keep their hopes alive for the LL title after the Yellowjackets take a 7-0 lead in the first quarter.

Ithaca.      24.      Union.        27.  The Garnet Charging Dutchmen throw a monkey wrench in the race for the LL title by getting a turnover on the last Bombers drive.

Hobart.      49.      SLU.          17.  250 yards for EJ in all purpose yards before he is leaves in the 4th Quarter

Buffao ST.  100.      Hilbert.      7.  Buffalo State is the only LL team to have no shame and crosses the century mark in points
