Maybe the people of KS parents generation had the right idea.  Buy a nice home in a decent community and stay there instead of selling every few years because you need to "move up".  You have kids, need more room, add an addition.  The value will flucuate but the house will be worth more than you paid for it in the long run.  Here is the other smart real estate tip given to KS by his Aunt who at one point was a top saleswoman for Weichert.  Buy a house you can afford to make payments on, stay away from Mortgage brokers and varialble rate mortgages unless their is a reasonable cap on the high rate.

In Boston though you can still "move up" pretty easily if you want to but dont need to.  Housing prices are still high in decent hoods...

And if you can afford to, the trouble is all these scheiskauffs who can't afford to, but "have to" because everyone is doing it.  Dumbest reason for doing anything, trying to keep up.

KS knows some WWII vets in the VFW who bought new houses in towns like Secaucus, Lyndhurst and Rutherford NJ on their GI Bills.  They paid maybe 5 to 7K for cape cods that are now worth 300K+ in many cases.  Even if they sell low that was a good investment.

KS- How else are you going to roll with the LLPP if you're not trying to keep up?  How else are you going to come up with names like "Thug Mansion" "PD&IC Mansion" "Regs' House" etc if it weren't for us weekend millionaire's*?

As far as people buying terds back in the industrial revolution days and now they're worth $300k, those are just paper gains...unless they want to sell their house and live in a cardboard box. (sleeping on the crumpled up $100 bills they made)

* a weekend millionaire is someone that works a part time hourly job (insert pic of u89 pumping gas here) and then is out at the clubs on Saturday night sporting the best designer label threads (usually chinese knock-offs) acting like Enrique Englacias, even though when he hits the ATM he's like "ohhh do I really have enough for this captain and coke??!!.

U89 has to figure out a way to continue to pull in the Benjamin's so he can feed Reg & Gro ML's in Troy this year......

"Hey U89....can Gro and I get a couple of your ML's??  Our ML's seem to be locked in Gro's Mini Cooper over there."

LMAO! well played u89...the vision of gro's 6'4" 235lb. body of twisted steel and sex appeal cramming into a mini is hell-arious!

It sure is since he's actually 5'11" 250lbs

LOL..sorry gro pbr tried....

The Rev has been trying to dig more details out of this.  Some suggest that the puppy was a toy or already dead and that someone off-camera mae the noises.  The Corps appears to be taking this very seriously.  There's a Public Affairs officer working over-time doing damage control.  And it seems that if the video is not a prank, but real, the doods are in extremely deep doodoo.

It's as if 'Gro were to walk onto campus and drop kick a squash player.  It just ain't right to pick on something small and helpless.

any one else get SI?

there is a RPI reference in the letters to the editor section.

(and it's not from gro or reg)

JQV

I went to the freezer last night after dinner to get a bowl of ice cream.  Mrs.JQV (who is 7 months pregnant) yells from the living room: "You aren't going to find any ice cream if that is what you are looking for."

JQV: "Why the he!! can't we keep any food in this house?"

MJQV: "The baby needs calcium.  It's science."

It is unclear whether or not MJQV lurks on LLPP, Inc.

JQV-
MJQV is now a suspect lurker.  MR is definately a suspect lurker as how she used to refer to this site as "that stoopid football site" and now refers to it as "the stoopid D4 football site or whatever"......D4??  That is about the equivilent of her "accidentally" transposing the final 2 numbers of your SSN so people can't run it.

PS- Congrats

Its obviously fake and clear that its either already dead or a toy.  The dog did not move at all. The dog noises were mixed in later.  Either way it was a stoopid move because who knows how many stoopid foreigners believe its real.

As the soldier begins his windup, the dog should have struggled because it wasn't a natural position for the dog to be in.  The dog didn't move... dead or fake.

That is perfect evidence.  I did not make the connection before.

MJQV used to call it "that Ithaca site."  Now she calls it "that D3 site."  Also, RPI's hockey team was in Tampa for some college showcase this winter.  MJQV drops "hey, doesn't Ithaca play RPI?"  I didn't think of it at the time but she was born and raised in Gator Nation.  She has never heard of RPI.  That seals it.

U89, you should be amused by RPI's 2008 schedule, which is the same ole sheeeit they've been playing for 5+ years.  At least add another cupcake as a 10th team... Becker, Mo'Ville, galludet maybe?.

http://www.rpifootball.com/summary.aspx

Big Problem...  Shoes and Frozen Cat Turd games are back to back this year (union 11/1, bart 11/8) both on the perfectly manicured field in the middle of RPI's campus.  The bart game is the last game EVER at 86 Field before they move into Enginegro Stadium in '09.

Gro can't go to both games... how do you choose one?

labart96

the last shoes and turd games on the ole 86?

damn.

tough call, but even a biased TGP would probably have to recommend gro roll up to the shoes game.  it's the biggest rivalry game, etc.  beer and ruck wings vs the wine and cheese.  hard to top that.

besides if you're optimistic (esp given that galludet schedule), RPI very well could potentially host a rd1 playoff game (which TGP would assume would be at the 86) so bart is (potentially, not necessarily) the "last" game.

Trust me.  It's science.

TGP is quite happy with 2 kridlers but MTGP occasionally brings up the prospect of numero tres.  Isn't she already exhausted enough by 2?
