Otterbein now up 2-1 over CWRU.   Lincoln Wallace scored the go-ahead goal for Otterbein in the 85th minute on an assist from Drew Boettcher.

Wash U and Webster now a final.   Wash U won, 2-1, at Webster to take a 30 wins, 1 loss and 2 draw series advantage over the Gorloks.   Wash U's winning goal was scored by Daniel Kochen in the 88th minute.

Otterbein has just defeated CWRU by a score of 2-1.   Game has just gone final.

CWRU Spartans take their first loss of the season.   CWRU will open up UAA play next Saturday at home vs Rochester, with the Spartans taking a 6-1-3 record going into the match.

3 non-conference matchups mid-week as final tune-ups before we start the first round of conference matchups:

Rochester @ CWRU - Case has to be the favorite here.
Brandeis @ Wash U - great early matchup with two teams playing well.
NYU @ Chicago - Chicago favorite
Emory @ CMU - Emory is flying, but it's never easy to win away, fun matchup.

UAA did much better in non-conference this fall vs. last year, time to start shaking out the standings. Should be some high-level matches the rest of the way.

Agree with most of your comments, but not sure about Case/Rochester. CWRU has not played well the last couple of games vs John Carroll and Otterbein, while Rochester seems to have turned around from an early season struggle. As a newly minted Case fan, I hope I am wrong, but I feel like Rochester may take this one.

Case has a stout defense and GK, but offensively they are struggling.

The NCAA DIII Men's Soccer Committee has released the first NPI Summary report of the season.

It is through games of Sunday, September 28, 2025

The report is available at http://stats.ncaa.org/selection_rankings/nitty_gritties/45791

How the UAA teams are ranked nationally in the NPI rankings this morning--

1.)  Brandeis-- #3 in the official NPI national rankings-- 58.479
2.)  Emory-- #7 in the official NPI national rankings-- 57.582
3.)  WashU--#19 in the official NPI national rankings-- 56.302
4.)  UChicago-- #28 in the official NPI national rankings-- 55.543
5.)  CWRU-- #51 in the official NPI national rankings-- 54.161

Beating any one of the top 5 UAA teams in the NPI national rankings will carry a quality win bonus at this time, as the current NPIs of those teams are above 54 right now.

6.)  Carnegie Mellon-- #58 in the official NPI national rankings-- 53.846
7.)  Rochester-- #65 in the official NPI national rankings-- 53.668
8.)  NYU-- #221 in the official NPI national rankings-- 48.781

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but is NPI a more valuable tool for tournament projections than the United Soccer Coaches rankings? Or are both used together?

kansas hokie

VASoccerDad,

Last year, the NCAA moved entirely to using NPI so it's the only tool to use for NCAA projections. Much mor e transparent and less subjective. It has made the regional rankings and national rankings simply that, rankings from coaches. No weight at all on the NCAA bids.

What becomes subjective is when the NCAA makes the pods up, but who makes the field? entirely NPI.

4:11 PM ET update-- The aforementioned NPI Summary Report which had been published earlier today has now been taken off the NCAA Statistics website.   It is unclear whether this report will be republished this week, or whether or not we will have to wait until after Sunday, October 5, 2025 for a new report.  Sorry about that.

Great, thanks so much!

Well that didn't take long...

Latest rankings, Case was a one and done  as they  are out, not even receiving any votes.

Emory #2
Washu #11
Brandeis #12

CMU also drops out...5 teams down to 3.

kansas hokie

UAA handling mid-week business 3-1 win for CMU; 3-0 leads right now for Wash U and Chicago. Time for conference season!

@Kansas Hokie and VA soccer dad - nice to spruce up the threads with some more UAA fans! Brandeis alum and UAA supporter here. Who are your team(s)?

Yeah, I recently joined because my son will be playing at a UAA school next fall (2026). Would rather not say exactly where since he hasn't officially been admitted yet. He applied ED so hopefully we'll find out for sure in early December.

I will say there were several schools looking at him for soccer, and a couple of offers. Schools he was considering were Carnegie Mellon, Case Western, Chicago, Rochester and WashU. We visited a few, but not all, of them. I was pulling for a couple but he decided elsewhere, which I am totally fine with. We did make a trip up to Boston over spring break (I love that area and was hoping he would go somewhere up there), but didn't hit Brandeis. He was talking to Tufts and some other NESCAC's at the time, so we went there, Harvard, MIT, etc. Tufts was the only one that offered what he wanted to study so the NESCAC's were out for the most part.

Saw the UAA board was not the most heavily trafficked so thought I would help try to get it going some more. I don't have the most extensive UAA (or D3) soccer knowledge so I am relatively new to the conference and level. I work at UVA so we see a lot of good soccer, but was unfamiliar for the most part with D3. Good to see others on here...

OK clearly VASoccerDad and I won't get along after I read all of his post....Go Hokies!  :)

Emory is my team. This may be a lightly used forum, but I can confirm that many eyes scan it. Fun to carry on the conversation. I am thinking about making the trip next weekend for the Emory @ Brandeis match, should be a great one.

An imperious #2 ranked Emory side taking on the best Brandeis team since 2017 (probably?)...what a match-up!
