Quote from: BDB on Yesterday at 07:01:40 AMIt's officially UW-Stout Polytechnic now.

From the website:

Now, as UW-Stout Polytechnic, the university requests that members of the media and other outside organizations use University of Wisconsin-Stout Polytechnic or UW-Stout Polytechnic rather than UW-Stout or Stout.

Good luck with that. They'll always be Stout - ain't nobody got time to type or say UW-Stout Polytechnic.

Looks like you just did.

I suppose Wis Poly would be easier.

Like California Polytechnic State University is Cal Poly.

It's officially UW-Stout Polytechnic now.

So, both Stevens Point and Stout abbreviations are UWSP. Throw UW-Superior into the mix and it's a jungle out there.  ;D

I didn't know there was a quality control measure on posts here in D3.com land.

I haven't seen where CH has ever attacked or slandered any other poster. Like GT said just bypass his stuff if you don't like it.

Personally, I'm still trying to figure out if Heather is:
a) real
b) a blow up doll
c) an imaginary girlfriend of CH

Time will tell. But I suggest everyone stick around and enjoy the boards. It's really just for fun.

The Indianapolis 500 yesterday was awesome. Closest finish in history. Every year I tune in at the beginning of the 2-3 hour pre race show and watch until the bricks are kissed.

Attended the event in 2007 as a guest of a corporate sponsor. 3 days of touring, coach busses to the track which had police escorts each time, concerts at the track and the spectacle of the race itself. Got to meet AJ Foyt and saw a couple other legends up close. The city of Indianapolis really knows how to host these big events.

That night after the race we asked the hotel concierge if there was a sports bar close by to watch the NASCAR race.  There was (she didn't mention the Hooters across the street) and it was packed with race fans all watching a replay of the 500. One small TV behind the bar had the Coca Cola 600 on it. We laughed "should have known." Food was good, fans were great.

Having said all that the demolition derby at the Itasca County fair sounds pretty good too. 8-)

Texas Ole, I believe you may be overlooking the most positive result of your upcoming move:

You will now be in the eligibility zone for the "Annual Last-On Furnace Competition"  :o

Duffman could use some new victims of his cold dominance.  8-)

Whitewater goes down in 11 innings 8-7. Bethany Lutheran advances.

Quote from: faunch on April 01, 2026, 09:43:35 AMOr...I've been at this school working my ass off for 2-3 years and then they give a D1 transfer a wad of cash to come in.

If that happened then apparently you weren't good enough at your position for them to pay someone to come in.

Time to transfer to a school in the Life Is Always Fair Conference. The LIAFC as it's known nationally.

Quote from: faunch on March 30, 2026, 09:03:27 AMWonder how the other guy feel about playing with guys getting $50K each and the rest of you are getting bupkis.

They probably feel like those guys worked their butts off to be that good and they are happy to have them on their team.

It's like looking at the student next to you getting a full scholarship because they worked hard in high school and another student is carrying a student loan but still got accepted.

Better opportunities, physical attributes, sure. But effort in all ways comes into play.

Some people just plain work harder than others and get compensated more.

You guys kill me sometimes.

It's a fundraiser. It's for raising FUND$. As followers of the team you should want it to sell out at $250 per and get $1000 per if they could.

This isn't a cost to watch the team play. It's an event to bond alumni and lubricate the high rollers that have and will continue to write some big checks of support. There is a need to occasionally have an event that is catered to that group.

So, complain about the costs of tickets and the video streams, that's all valid personal opinion I guess. But be happy this kind of event happens also to support your favorite football team.

Ticket prices for damn near everything are ridiculously high anymore.
The exception remains d3 sports. The best entertainment at the best price.

Quote from: Greek Tragedy on March 21, 2026, 08:47:02 AMI went to the Elite 8 this year.

GT (aka oldschool) you are the consummate D#3 MBB guy. The only foul on your record is when you and swampgoon, (I think he was along) passed on an important Pointer game to attend an outdoor hockey game at Lambeau Field. Badger game I believe.

But that's only 1 foul. Your record otherwise is championship level.

Quote from: sjusection105 on March 13, 2026, 11:38:10 AMBDB are the shelves empty? Folks preparing for "Snowmageddon 2026"

Ha! The local radio and TV weather terrorists are doing their best to scare the population with the doomsday predictions of death and everlasting misery.

My sense is after the spring like days we've had lately the shovels have been hung up for the season and any snow that comes "will just have to melt, dammit."

Looks like all the spring breakers have escaped just in time.
