It was posted for a few seconds and has Lavery starting with Ashiru as the back up.

The document is still there actually, they just removed the link to it:

Wabash would need to add 9-10 more sports to be a strong candidate for the CCIW.

St. Norbert would be the only Wisconsin school in the Midwest Conference or Northern Athletic Conference that would have finished ahead of last place Millikin in the CCIW in the Director's Cup ranking last season.

Beloit, Concordia (WI), Lawrence, and Wisconsin Lutheran are not too far behind and all sponsor football.

If it's CUW, they are currently in the NACC. In football finished in 4rth last year and in second place in 2023 and 2022.

The school is about 16 miles north of Milwaukee. Looks like the campus is near the lake.

Yes. That's what Bob Quillman is reporting and I would not doubt him on this.

All I will say is if that is the actual depth chart and not some sort of gamesmanship play to keep Oshkosh guessing, I would not have the Cardinals ranked #1 in the polls...

Wouldn't be the first time that they gamed the depth chart.

It's Concordia (WI). Interestingly enough, I first learned about CUW's imminent move from the NACC to the CCIW back in early August from a source that's outside of both the CCIW and CUW. There are few secrets in the D3 community!

So the net result for football is that the CCIW has traded WashU for CUW. I'm not happy about that.

I don't have a problem with it. ;D
I think we'll see different teams fighting for the Isthmus Bowl annually.

I'm assuming they were looking for a full time member too, to participate in other sports.

I really hope the Bears can get North Central, Wheaton and others on the schedule every so often.

Fans are certainly free to approach matters like this from their own viewpoints, but I suspect that you're probably either a football-only North Central fan or a football-dominant North Central fan. The reality of your "traded" complaint is that you're comparing an apple to an orange. Wash U was a football-only associate member that is comfortably ensconced within the UAA in its other sports -- and I can assure you that Wash U will never depart the UAA for the CCIW, or for any other league, because the UAA encompasses Wash U's peer institutions (academically-selective and richly-endowed private research universities that choose not to give athletic scholarships) and the CCIW most certainly does not. Since Wash U was never going to join the CCIW in the other sports, the CCIW was more or less a flag of convenience for the school for football purposes.

CUW, by contrast, is going to be a CCIW member in 18 different sports, not just football. (The league can't provide a home for the Falcons in field hockey, women's ice hockey, men's ice hockey, men's shooting, women's shooting, and a few other sports that the CCIW doesn't sponsor but CUW does.) That across-the-board participation by CUW makes it a far, far better fit for the CCIW than Wash U.

As CarollFan suggested, it's always better to have full members than associate members. The presence of associate members (of which CUW is currently one, by the way, as it participates in the CCIW in men's wrestling) in the CCIW ranks is basically a necessary evil that allows the CCIW to maintain D3 standing as an automatic-bid conference in various sports in which the full members don't all participate (men's wrestling being a good example), or to round out scheduling to an even number in sports that have restrictive scheduling patterns (which is why Wash U is in this league for football).

Competitively, the football Falcons are not going to be as rigorous an opponent as the Bears have been. But that's definitely a minor concern in the larger scheme of things. You may not be happy about it, but in the big picture this is a -- no offense to Wash U -- good trade in terms of the CCIW's member rolls.

It was a smart decision by the CCIW to bolster the ranks, @GregorySager, but a bummer nonetheless.

Probably not related but I did say back when the news broke that I was guessing Wash U was being kicked out bc  CCIW had someone else lined up to add as a full member  ;D
