bennie: Well it's looks like things will end in the Magic Kingdom. Emery stood on his ear again but that second goal looked a little soft. I think you were right when you said he might be getting tired.

Alanis Morissette did a hell of a job with "Oh Canada" I thought.  ;D

That was quite a game last night! I couldn't believe how the media was all over Pronger, but holding Neil up as the Sens poster boy. Talk about Hypocrisy with a capital H! Calling Pronger a repeat offender while ignoring the fact that Neil has had his fair share of suspensions and PIM! Just ask Chris Drury! Apparently I missed Neil being nominated for the Lady Bing...that must have been the same year Chris Simon and Sean Avery were nominated! :P I also thought it was bizarre that Neil referred to Pronger as a backstabber because of chippy behavior after whistles. I guess I should get out my dictionary! ??? And let's not forget Alfredsson's actions. How can he shoot a puck directly at Niedermayer at the end of the period, then punch Moen in the face in the resulting exchange and not get a penalty? WTF!! I can't believe that he isn't even getting fined by the NHL! Pronger's actions were stupid, uncalled for and could have resulted in a serious injury...so were Alfredsson's! Bah! The officiating sucked last night. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention the lovely dives from last night. Neil's pike position could use a little work, but Emery had nice rotation though with a bit of a sloppy entry! ;D

And yes, Alanis did a good job with the anthems! :D

bennie,
At first I thought you had it spelled wrong since Byng is for sportsmanship and Bing is a cherry and then I realized you had it right all along.  ;D
One more win by the Ducks and he will have been had, however.  ;)

It's early and spelling has never been my forte! ;D

If anyone wants to check out the Alfredsson shot, here it is.

bennie: Congrats on post #500 +k

Also, I have never thought one way or another about Brett Hull as a TV guy until last night.

I could feel the steam coming from you all the way from the Pac N-West over the bizarre comments he was making in the pregame.

Was I right?  ???   ;D

To tell you the truth, I don't even remember his pre-game comments. I try to block him out as much as possible. I was not happy about his comment that they should get rid of shields. And I laugh out loud when he comments on fighting because you know damn well he wasn't the one dropping gloves in his day. I did appreciate his comments about the diving/Alfie's shot and how getting rid of the instigator rule would take care of both. :D

Here are a couple of my favorite hockey quotes on the matters:

Brendan Morrison, who has always worn a visor: "It's common sense isn't it? I know for some guys it's a macho thing, but that's nuts. If guys are so tough when they don't wear visors, why don't they play the game without a jock? I mean, you've got two balls, right?"

"Another point. Our goaltender can be identified by the large pads and mask that he wears. He's also the goaltender on the ice that does not dive when he gets brushed."
-- 4/24/02: Canucks GM Brian Burke commenting on Detroit goaltender Dominik Hasek

Burke could have recycled this comment last night! ;D

Is hockey season over yet???

Nope.  I'm just hoping we see more of the Don Cherry- Brett Hull tandem like last night.  I laughed my head off at those two feeding off one another.  Bill Clement looked completely lost, which made it all the funnier.  And that they called out NBC Prez Dick Ebersol to put fighting back in the game-- simply awesome.

Alanis' Star Spangled Banner sounded like a church hymn compared to the Ottawa fans' O'Canada. Like the Edmonton fans last year, they Canadians really get into their anthem.

At first I thought Alfie was trying to ensure there would be no icing if he were to send the puck at the end of the period.  After I saw it again, I realized that had he done that to someone on the Wild, Boogard would have broken Alfie's jaw and given him a good shiner.  It's going to get kinda chippy in game 5 I think.

I do wonder if the Stache will be dressing for game 5!;-) When Alfie punched Moen, I was hoping that those two would go! All that would have been left is a Swedish puddle on the ice. ;D The reality is that if there is a fight, odds are that neither Alfredsson or Neidermayer will be involved. The enforcers on each team will be the ones that have to step up and settle it. I know that those players know their role, but it has got to suck to have to fight because of your teammate's bushleague play. :-\

To think that I was ambivalent about the Ducks! The Sens have done their best to change that!

You, too?  If I wanted to see a punch up, I'd go to London's East End, but I figured that being from a non ice-locked state I just didn't understand.  The one hockey game I went to in person was on nickel beer night (yes, nickel beer night).  It's what you have to do to sell hockey in Oklahoma I guess. :P (And it was a long time ago. ;D)
