actually nothing really will come from this (since Goodell knew, the penalty he already administered must be for the entire offense), except Bill will never get the chance to cut the sleeves off of a hall of fame blazer.

u know the more pbr see's and hears of this the more ticked off he gets at goodell....it seems this tool is almost in on this...pbr knows he just wants it to go away and bury it. but wtf....your supposed to have a commission investigating this and they destroy all the evidence? billy b has been filming teams and stealing info for years and that is all the punishment you give out? it's like goodell is on kraft's payroll...pbr was totally against specter opening this thing up and wasting money but now everything is out in the open what a f'n coverup and pbr is glad he did...yes the pats won the games but in pbr's eyes the championship's are tainted....you still have to execute to win but pbr has lost a lot of respect for billy b let alone goodell since that is who this whole pile of dung feet this falls at...

Well I still think it is well within the rules to videotape other teams signals.  You just can't videotape them from specific areas of the stadium.  And even they way that rule was written, Belichik was still within the rules of what he did.  Im suprised that the league simply doesnt ban taping other teams.  Do we even know if taping a pregame warmup is legal?  You can't punish people for doing things that arent against the rules. 

I have to admit that I was let down when I first heard that any coach actually stole signals from the other teams.  I really didn't know that happened.  I always thought it was funny when coaches put the playsheet over their mouth when talking on the sidelines.  This makes me think more about how more teams attempt to steal plays, and that coaches know about it.

I also think Belichik might have told Godell a lot of other things that may not have had to do with the Patriots.  What if Belichick told him that the Giants used to steal signals all the time?  Or that the Bills or Broncos were taped during those superbowl warmups?

pbr agrees w/ ya JU...this whole thing has one foul odor....pbr was always a huge billy b fan.....fyi goodell says its not legal to tape another team according to sports illustrated and that he and coach b. differ on the interpretation of the rules...that had been rumors for awhile of coaching staffs using scanners to hear off. play calls nothing ever substantiated though. the thing pbr really doesnt like is goodell handed out punishments before the investigation was finished...wtf? so a judge can hand out a punishment before the police finish their investigation? why destroy the tapes? pbr doesnt buy the investigation was over and they didnt want it to end up in the wrong hands? do police destroy evidence after a crime? absolutely not...also if the "tapes" contained only what you said then why destroy them since its everything supposedly has been put out for public consumption....sounds very sketchy to pbr and smells of a massive coverup...

I think one reason the punishment was so quick is because Belichick admitted what he did right away.  Godell had all the evidence he needed and the admitted "confession".  So he administered a penalty right away.  Investigations are short when the suspect admits a confession.  I don't have any problem with that part.

It is strange that the tapes were destroyed though. But if they were what Godell and Belichick said they were (evidence of the Pats taping teams since 2000), then there might not be anything else to look at.  If it was anything else, (evidence of other teams cheating, or evidence of old Giants teams, or Clevleland teams), then it would seem that Belichick would be the guy with nothing to lose, not Godell. 

Specter still bothers me though.

Does anyone even watch DVD's, HD DVD's or Blu Ray's?  I mean, Reg isn't going to spend $20 bucks on a movie he can watch once and hate.  In fact, Reg has a collection of about 30 of his favorite DVD's (Glen Garry Glen Ross, Pulp fiction, Save the Last Dance, etc) that he has had for like 3 years now and hasn't touched since he watched them the first time.
