KS was checking out the eclipse from our drummers house.  Very cool.  KS is now tipping back some JD and listening to Jerry Reed play guitar.  Willy turned KS on to Jerry Reed.  He is one mean guitar playing some beach.

KS was just checking out the VFW website and found this news article. The National Commander in Chief of the VFW has condemned the City of Berkely CA regarding their treatment of the Marine recruiting station.  They even give the phone numbers, addresses and email addresses of the city council members.  Anyone who thinks their actions are deplorable are encouraged to let them know how they feel.

what a f'n disgrace...no matter what side the fence you fall on...to give people the right to harass another group whatever their beliefs is just idiotic and setting up to have huge run ins...pbr cant wait until those nuts and berry eaters try harrassing some marine drill instructors...there will be power elbows and leg drops around the horn....a true slap in the face of the people who gave lives to allow them to demonstrate and harass...pbr fired off a seething email to them all. lets see them try and change the name on the door when the marines are around rather than when the office is closed. just a disgrace...fine u dont agree w/ their position (first off they are following orders so disagree w/ the white house not people following orders...what knuckleheads thought people said berkeley people were smart?) but you dont give someone the right to openly harass other groups now lawsuits will abound with other groups looking for the same rights...


EDIT: they have moderated their stance since the federal govt threatened to withhold funding for them...amazing how tough they are until money is going to be  stopped...chickens stick to your guns and make up that shortfall and see how outspoken your voters are then

JT's written all these mofo's.  What the town needs is a couple of veteran biker groups to roll in for support.  Destruction of property is too much.

KS did not have time earlier, but just got finished sending his email to the Mayor and Pinko City Council members from Berkely.

Dear Mayor Bates;

I am writing to express my extreme displeasure at the "Outrageous and Idiotic" resolution you passed trying to railroad the Marine Corp recruiters out of town.  I hope that you and your misguided city council realize that without people like these Marines and the young men they are recruiting you may not have the freedom to pass such "Outrageous and Idiotic" resolutions.  I am extremely happy that the United States Government threatened to pull federal funding from your city. 

I agree with an Americans right to protest and served my country in the US Navy to defend that right.  I disagree with a city taking the stand that military recruiters need to be removed.  By trying to force the Marine recruiters from your city you are weakening our country even further.  Whether you like it or not the Marine recruiters are doing a necessary job and I can speak from personal experience that military recruiters basically tell the truth when trying to sign a kid up. 

What really makes me angry is you and your council members will be the first to come running to Uncle Sugar when the terrorists attack your town asking for protection.   I personally feel that you and the majority of your council need to resign and allow people to come into office that actually have the well being of the town, its citizens and the nation as their primary focus. 

I also commend the three members of your council that did not vote for your "Outrageous and Idiotic" resolution.  They actually showed common sense.

What you and your council have done is as bad as what many people did to our troops when they returned from Vietnam.  I would not be surprised if you and your council were among the people spitting and insulting our troops as they came home.  Those troops back then and the troops now are doing what they are told to do, they do not want to fight but they will if they have to.  Whether you agree with the war or not, the young men and women serving in our armed forces deserve your support, not your harassment.  In the spirit of full disclosure, I will tell you that I do not agree with the war.  No soldier or sailor ever wants to go to war, but we do it because we are told to.

I hope that you will reconsider your stand and issue a formal apology to the Marine Recruiters, the Marine Corp and the United States of America for your despicable actions.
