Quote from: Ralph Turner on May 11, 2025, 02:07:17 PMBubble warning, MIT and Salve are tied in the 10th. MIT needs 2 wins to bust the bubble and have Oswego fall off.

MIT came to SoCal in March and lost to Chapman 1, PP twice and ULV once. Let's see how much that affects Redlands along with other games.

What does everyone think of the D3 Baseball projection? I'd love to see the region split up among 3 regionals

I am ecstatic that the Region X teams are being dispersed, if what Jim Dixon (whom I assume wrote the article) is saying is true. In 2018 UT-Tyler was the last Pool C and was sent to the St Louis regional. They beat Texas Lutheran for the championship.

Quote from: Bmo on May 10, 2025, 11:43:50 AMThe best solution I can come up with would be to add an in-region kicker into the NPI equation.  This would incentivize teams to schedule in-region while not punishing teams who can't schedule out of region.  Maybe  1.1 on in-region wins and losses. Any other ideas?

By doing this though, do you devalue wins for the teams that can schedule harder games?

You have more faith in Jim (who is a good man and created a better bracket) than I have in the NCAA.  I'll be flabbergasted if the latter pays for that many flights instead of just doing what they always do and send at least one SCAC pool C to Trinity.

On the 2025 Playoffs message board, I gave my prediction of 3 flights. I agree; the lower ranked SCIAC Pool C flies to Trinity.

I also expect the bracket to construct a Region X Super Regional to eliminate a flight.

Yes, you would, but should teams schedule 50%+ of their games out of region just because they can, as several regions are within 100 miles of their campus?  Maybe the kicker should be 1.05 or something less as to not disuade high-level games out of region.  Or maybe you limit the number of out-of-region games that you can count to 15 or some other number.

DickWhitman

I like the idea of limiting OOR or setting a minimum of in-region games.

Which region(s) is this an issue for? The SCIAC is great with every team playing each other. However, adding APU next year will likely get rid of an OOC/OOR series for every team.

The ****ers screwed Trinity out of hosting.  I am so tired of these bastards.

Edited to say those four *s say exactly what you think they say.

See follow-up below.

Nothing like picking a team that is exactly 500 miles from Marshall TX (Huntingdon is exactly 500 miles). They crafted a regional in Texas with no flights. Only the NCAA could do it.

There was no way to use San Antonio without either flying in two teams or having two SCAC teams.

scottiedawg

Official NCAA Mileage Calculator tool says 501 Huntingdon -> ETBU and 502 ETBU -> Huntingdon. So unless there's a change I don't know about it's a "flight."

Sending CMS to WI and Concordia to the northeast seems dumb to me, but at least it spreads the region out a little to give it more chances for multiple teams in the CWS. Hate to see PP and LV have to play again right away (possibly).

Anybody know how good the other teams in the CMS regional are? I know LV handled UW-LaCrosse pretty well earlier in the year.

Ron Boerger

Update:  I was just informed that another organization on campus (not athletics or administration) said they could not support the regional at Trinity and that no bid was submitted as a result.  My apologies to all.

DickWhitman

Anyone going to the ETBU regional needs to check out Best of Texas BBQ. No idea if it is the best in Texas, but it is the best I've ever had. It's in Marshall, just a few minutes from the field.

What a weekend for Region 10! CMS put on a serious power display in La Crosse. McMurry goes into SCIAC territory after squeezing in and wins the Regional! What a game between Trinity and ETBU!

So is CMS going to MA now? I've seen they are playing Endicott, but haven't seen a regional site listed yet.
