Brandeis at Babson
Case Western Reserve at Kenyon
WashU hosts Wheaton (IL)
Rochester hosts Clarkson
Chicago hosts UW-Eau Claire

I'm going all UAA in those with the exception of CWRU/Kenyon, not totally sold on Case yet and Kenyon is usually pretty good. Others as well, but those were the ones that jumped out to me.

Good Saturday for the UAA...all teams above won except for Case, who drew against a tough Kenyon team.

CMU and Emory also with wins and an NYU draw.

yes, great weekend for UAA, with only one more week of non-conference matchups, it looks like UAA has done better this year and is in position for multiple NCAA bids when conference season is over. We won't have a real sense of it until NPI comes out (they should publish it sooner in my opinion), but so far, it looks positive. lots of helpful wins this weekend across UAA.

5 out of the 8 UAA teams are ranked in this weeks top 25. As a comparison, the NESCAC only have 4 ranked. Obviously still early, but hopefully they can keep it going.

And the tiger in the cage is now poked.

Congrats to the UAA.

Haha, cross conference trash talk, love it!

Rochester flying under the radar w/ another win. After losing first two games, playing in a new system and a lot of 1st-yr minutes, last seven 5-0-2. A win over Clarkson, and Hobart tied late on a controversial penalty.
A test away at York PA, then UAA play-
UAA Travel.. Away v. Case, NYU, CMU. Home v. Brandeis, WashU, Chicago, Emory.
Going to get interesting

Case struggling to get anything going vs crosstown rival John Carroll, tied 0-0 with 14 to go. JCU in control most of game.

Ok, not great, midweek results for the UAA...

Rochester, Chicago, #2 Emory, #24 CMU all win going away
#18 Brandeis and #17 CWRU both tie
NYU lost to #14 Montclair St.
#12 WashU's game at Principia was cancelled

4-1-2

VASoccerDad

Last big weekend of games before conference play begins...a couple of upcoming mid-week games, but for the most part, this is it before league games start.

All games on Saturday:
#24 CMU hosts Salisbury
Rochester at York (PA)
#18 Brandeis hosts John Carroll
UChicago hosts Kalamazoo
NYU hosts Stevens
#2 Emory hosts Sewanee
#17 CWRU at Otterbein
#12 WashU at Webster

CMU, WashU and UChicago have Tuesday games as well.

Salisbury is taking CMU behind the woodshed in the game today

Salisbury 4 - Carnegie Mellon 1 (66th mninute)

CMU is playing down a man now after its starting GK got a straight red for DOGSO in the 61st minute, but Salisbury was already up 3-1 at that point and CMU conceded a 4th goal on the ensuing PK (incidentally, that's a tough spot for the sub GK to come in cold for the PK caused by the guy he has to replace).  I doubt CMU will be ranked next week after this debacle.  Salisbury has played pretty well against a difficult schedule, but, at 4-3-2 coming into the game, voters aren't going to cut CMU much slack.

Hard loss for CMU, nice wins by Rochester (@ York) and Brandeis (Vs. John Carroll) balances it out overall for UAA.

Rochester 3 - York(PA) 2

York goes up 2-0 in the 54th minute.

Bisenic from Rochester scores 3 times in 7:18, 55th, 60th, and 63rd minute to cap off an incredible performance, and comeback by UR.

Ignacio Cubeddu scored a hat trick in the first half for Emory against Sewanee today.  Currently, Emory is up 5-0 vs Sewanee in the 70th minute.

Cubeddu is a grad transfer from the defending national champion Amherst College, where he played full seasons in 2019, 2021, and 2023.  Apparently, NESCAC rules do not allow players to play for their original NESCAC teams after they get their undergrad degrees-- similar to how the Ivy League operates for their teams.

There was no season in 2020 due to Covid, and Cubeddu did not play for Amherst in 2022.

Wash U up 1-0 at Webster early in the second half, and CWRU is up 1-0 at Otterbein early in the second half as well.

Last year, Cubeddu started in the first game for Amherst, but only played the first 21 minutes of the Amherst opener vs Suffolk and attempted 1 shot before apparently sustaining a season ending injury.

Update on Emory's 5th goal today-- Cubeddu also scored that one-- so Cubeddu now has scored 4 of Emory's 5 goals today.

Both Otterbein and Webster has now scored equalizing goals to tie their respective games vs CWRU and Wash U at 1-1 each.

For CWRU, Ohta Kamiya scored the goal in the first half for the Spartans, while Otterbein's equalizer was just scored by Eli Traber in the 58th minute with an assist by Drew Boettcher.

For Wash U, Ethan Wirtschafer scored the goal in the 37th minute at Webster for the Bears, while the Webster Gorloks have just tied the game in the 56th minute on a goal from Alberto Duque Gonzalez with the assist from Hayden Hatley.

CWRU tied at Otterbein 1-1 in the 60th minute.   Wash U tied at Webster 1-1 in the 61st minute.  Emory up 5-0 over Sewanee in the 83rd minute.

8:37 PM ET update-- Emory vs Sewanee now a final.   Emory won, 5-0, to remain undefeated with no losses and no ties.  Emory opens up UAA play next Sunday at Carnegie Mellon.    The Carnegie Mellon Tartans have a non-conference home football game vs McDaniel next Saturday, so the Carnegie Mellon UAA home soccer opener gets postponed one day.
