That said, Hamline finishes the season with this nice little stretch of games:

10/15    at St. Thomas
10/22    Concordia-Moorhead
10/29    at St. Olaf
11/5    at Bethel
11/12    St. John's

Good luck with that  :o
They almost always play Bethel tough, though.  Maybe they're bad enough this year that it won't take a last second field goal to beat the Pipers this year. :o ;D

True enough. It was an ugly 52-0 last year, but uncomfortably close the previous 2. Given the results from this year, I wonder if Hamline isn't trending down. Is there a place lower than the cellar? Are they in the catacombs  ;D

I strongly suggest that SJU get the elephat out the stadium.  It is very evident that their is an elephant on the fiekd and in the stadium.  Gags doesn't even stay on the field.  Today's game he was out for the 1st half and never returned after that.  Many of the alumni where checking the box to see if he was there, but they couldn't find old Gags, even Joe Peterno stays on the field and lets his players know that he is in charge.

OMG Jimmy took over and the game went to hell.  The defense sucked and the offense wasn't any better.  The quarter back is too short to see over the guys and they kept running the same old play up the middle even though Bethel made it clear that they weren't going to allow any running through the middle.

SJU has recruited some great guys they just aren't being given a chance to play.  The QB from Totino Grace id 6'5" and he has a great arm, let's not forget he took his team to the state championship 2xs.  Then there are the youngmen from DeLaSalle who also took their team to the state championship.  I only named these two schools because I actually watched these guys play for several years while working for the MSHSL, I'm sure there are others that can step up and do a far better job than what we are seeing.  Unfortunately many of these guys want get to actually play until they are So. or Jr.

Gags is a wonderful man and I wish him he best, but the Johnnies deserve a fulltime coach that can be there 100% of the time.  Think about it, if the Packers coach spent the entire game in the booth or simply missing in action we would see him again.  If we don't act quick many o hese youngmen will ge recriuted by the likes of UST and th the Auggies.

and thats by Carleton MAC and Gustavus...not even the cream of the MIAC.

Here's an interesting stat. Hamline scored their only points of the season so far against Augsburg. In fact they scored more against Auggie than UST did. Augsburg is obviously making that look more and more like an anomaly.

Has a team ever been shut out in 90% of its games in a season? And if they are, do you just turn right around and fire your first year head coach? That's obviously assuming quite a bit about the last 5 games, but the road is about to get a whole lot more difficult for Hamline...

Looks like Murderer's Row of the MIAC for Hamline coming up. OUCH. As far as Hamline scoring 20 on the Auggies, pure speculation here, but Hamline is running a new offense this year so not alot of video on them at that point after the first game of the season against Pacific Lutheran. The other MIAC teams by now have been able to study what Hamine does offensively and can shut them down. Again, pure specualtion.

There's probably some legitimacy to that. Throw in the fact that Augsburg seems to be improving and playing with a high degree of confidence as the season progresses and Hamline is probably only getting less confident from the start of the season, when hope springs anew.

Here are some of the worst scoring teams I can remember since we started tracking all of them:

http://www.d3football.com/teams/Hiram/2004/index
http://www.d3football.com/teams/Hamilton/2006/index (Odd one -- note they actually won two games!)
http://www.d3football.com/teams/Rockford/2010/index

That is a painful list.

If that list is any indication, it would appear that the odds are in Hamline's favor that they'll at least score a few points down the stretch. If they don't, they truly are an uncharted territory of ineptitude.

Hamilton doesn't appear to have been a bad team in 2006 as much as just a terrible offense. Their defense only gave up 10ish points a game. Obviously the season bore out that the only way they could win was if they pitched a shutout.

The good news for Hamline though, is they have SJU on their schedule , so they may get a win......

This seems to be more about religion than the state of Wisconsin.... but whatever takes you mind off the Johnnies football season I guess :-\

I didn't think it was possible for Hamline to get much worse, but this season has proven me wrong.  How long before they go the way of Macalaster?

Side question: Who do we bring in to replace them?
